It's beech with pure tung oil cut 1-1 with citrus solvent. Not the norm but it's very durable and easy upkeep.

Nice Ninja edit :P Latigo, do you do work on these rifles? My trigger is a little odd compared to Rojo's and I was wondering if you worked on them.

Describe how it's different. Because we're a LLC I'm not allowed to do anything to an end user's rifle, but I'm betting I can talk you through it if there's an actual problem. Maybe Rojo' s is the problem?

Mine is way too smooth, the second stage requires only about .5-1 pounds to break.

That's a problem for certified competition. Minimum is 2.5lb pull. Got a close up photo of the trigger group? It could very well be a weak spring too.

Didn't touch it! Came that way out of the box from JG Sales. Also came with the Bayonet, Cleaning kit and troop tag. Belonged to a Karl Burgi of Goldau Switzerland.

Very nice! well to be honest with you don't miss my swiss one bit. However must say the trigger pull was my fav as well as the troop tag.

Also note...k31's aren't as popular in Swiss according to my uncle. (Born and raised in Swissaland 4th Gen etc...) It's all about the Schmidt-Rubin Model 1896. He sent me a care package holy sh*t people worship that gun out there!!!

Even a picture of the rifle on some of my chocolates he sent me hahah

I know nothing of your uncle, but he's wrong. Other than the semi auto competitions, the k31 is the majority mainstay of all Swiss competitions.
Some of our people still live there and are active competitors, and the 1896 was converted to the 96/11 for a reason.

Latigo you should put on some sort of week long shooting workshop so we can learn how to get the most out of our swiss rifles.

Chances are he's got a weak/worn spring. Nothing looked out of the norm, IMO.

SKSer, how do you not miss your Swiss? I think you've been near gun solvent fumes too much...

Yeah competitions but not as cultural value.

True even though the 1986 was converted and improved still came first and is treasured more. Think of it as m-14 and M1 Garand. M-14 much better than m1 but people (like us C*R folks) treasure that rifle very highly and is part of American culture. Apple Pie, Baseball, m1 garand. Or the 1920's Original Tommy gun to the 1940's Thompson SMG.

Plus that rifle also standardized the 7.55X55 Swiss which everybody and their mother knows and loves out there. Interesting fact is that my uncle travels a lot to neighboring countries Such as Northern Italy, France, Southern Germany, and Austria and even they know and love the the old SR.

Sorry my friend but I have to go with my uncle not because he is family but he is one of the top intellectuals at the University of Basel and he is currently teaching at the University of Barcelona during spring semesters. My uncle knows his sh*t and he has the credentials to back it up.

Don't worry I am making it up because my uncle sent me about 5 lbs of Swiss Chocolate and I already ate 3lbs of it lol. Taking a pic of it right now.

CP, there is a seasoned hardcore Swiss Match shooter here that's more than qualified to give such a seminar. He mostly just reads and checks up on me I think, but most all of us that shoot Swiss rifles have a lot of respect for his knowledge and abilities.
His user name is Carlos Diaopter, and what he doesn't know about the Swiss rifles and competitive shooting isn't worth knowing. He'll probably read this but I'll contact him tomorrow.
I have to open at 5am so I'm gone.

CP, this is one being worked on in your home state by a good gunsmith down there. He wants get get a Wyss Diopter to fit so it can be used in sanctioned Swiss shoots. He won't be modifying the rifle, but the diopter needs to be modified or he'd have to buy one of ours that has enough adjustable relief to keep it away from the periscope sight.

This forum convinced me to add a Swiss K31 to my Mosin 91/30 family...Happy Birthday. Thanks!

1943 Swiss K31 S/N 768,3xx

Walnut stock with Swiss cartouche
All matching stamped numbers on receiver, bolt, magazine, stock, hand guard, butt plate
No soldier ID tag
Swiss Leather Sling
Swiss Bayonet w/ Scabbard and Frog
Simpsons import

I bought the rifle from my local gun store and added the extras from online i.e. leather sling, 1942 bayonet/scabbard, 1943 frog, chargers. I'm very impressed with the look and feel of the K31. I'm taking it to the range this weekend!

Now that is one cool rifle. There's a tiger stripe hiding in there. That armory factory splice in the fore-end is especially strong and a perfect example of how that was done.
Congrats! .
