Default FX IMPACT PCP Rifle

Hi All,

I am looking all over for a used FX Impact with no luck. This may be because the rifle is in high demand.

What do you guys think about this rifle. is it worth 2k?

According to Ted (Ted's Holdover), it is the most accurate rifle he has ever shouldered out of the box. He has a good review You Tube on it (Google is your friend).
Others on the Yellow Forum have also had good results, yet there are some for sale on that Forum from time to time.

I believe that you're correct for the first gen Impacts. From my understanding the issues are fixed....(or FX'd....)

I would recommend a RAW, Cricket or AAA EVOL over an Impact, Teds Impact was not stock although he fails to give that part of the info. Barrel along with several other key components are modified. Not bashing Ted in anyway, a fine shooter indeed. The Impact that I had hands on that was used by the FX team was built like a watch and required a good amount of skill for repairs. Worked great when it worked but not a gun I would ever count on in the field, to many weak points. Shouldered nice and had good power, the regulator and certain return Springs were the most rediculous thing I've ever seen.

Agreed absolutely on the RAW.
Thanks for the insight on the Impact.
Not trying to thread steal by the way.

I've had a .25 Impact for almost two months so far and have put about 1500 pellets through it with no serious problems or complaints. Other than poor deburring and sharp edges on some external parts and having to tighten the tiny screw that holds the pellet probe in place once the gun has performed as advertised. Accurate, easy to adjust, nice trigger, lots of shots per fill and for me very easy to shoot well while sitting or standing. Shooting prone or off a bench with a bipod gets a passing mark but the comparatively short distance from butt plate to bipod requires more effort for good results than a non bullpup gun, at least for me. The innards of the gun are absurdly complicated but probably necessary for what they do; since I rarely break stuff, read and follow instructions well and am mechanically inclined that isn't a deal breaker for me. As to whether it's worth it, that only comes into play if it you don't use it enough or it doesn't do what you expect of it so not being worth it can apply equally to an expensive or inexpensive gun. So far it's worth it to me so it will stay around, probably for a long time but with me that's the norm.

Ya know, I'm very impressed with the FX Wildcat that I have had for just over a year too. Easy to work on, great shot count, accurate as all get out, magazines don't cost an arm and a leg either.
That's what made me look at the Impact in the first place. I just couldn't justify the cost for my needs.
I would however buy another Wildcat in a heartbeat.

It's nice when the problem is too many good choices, we might be living in the golden age of pcp guns.

AoA is good place, but they charge shipping. I happen to have bought from Straight Shooters because over $350, shipping is free and the price of the Wildcat was the same.

Default I have a early Impact in .25

I have had it for a few years now with no problems.
I sold off most of my other PCPs because the Impact is so good.
I have not had any problems other than some of the early guns have
non standard PIC rails.
I am considering buying another one in .22 to use up some my old pellets.
I know you can just get a caliber conversion but would like another rifle.

Check the Yellow forum or Airgun forum, they come up used now and again.

Thanks
John

Crosman999 suggested great options, specially the RAW. I have an Impact in .22 and .30cal, so far so good, it has been flawless since day one, I know that is gonna change, airguns need maintenance and the Impact is not different, it has a lot of moving parts and orings. It maybe not a good airgun for beginners.

No.

Go check out Air Gun Nation & you'll find a whole bunch o' people having problems. For 2k large that f'ing thing should work.

FWIW I just picked up an FX Wildcat used for less than half the cost of an Impact & its a Sweet shooting rifle....

FX isn't worth the price. Look at some of the other mid-line brands and you'll get near performance for a third of the price. I shoot the hatsan gladius .25 caliber and with JSB pellets it's a dead ringer everytime. Pick your poison, but it already seems like a 2K sticker price is causing you some concern.

Default Impact vs crown

With all the hype about the crown I checked them out they are the real deal , ive got 4 comming in to my shop in Nov and some Impacts too ,thats the earliest you can get a crown anywhere. The quality is there and thats what I want, theres alot of good gun out there and like any sport you will pay more if thats what you want. I wont sway anyone away from what they want , make sure it fits your needs thats my philosophy
