Default Classic auctioning a Tikka M39

Is anyone watching this auction at Classic Firearms? It’s a very nice 1943 Tikka M39 with an arsenal hang tag. The price is already at $1,365! But, hey, Classic will ship for free.
Didn’t Classic sell Tikka’s for $600 not long ago?

Well at least with an auction people can't complain about Classic's high prices. Whatever the final price is, it means there were at least 2 buyers that were willing to pay near that amount.

It doesn’t even have distinctive tiger striping, maybe the hang tag is worth $900?

I was wondering if there was something special about that hang tag. But surely not enough of a premium to command $1300+.
The 7.62x54r site lists a 1940’s Tikka M39 as an 8 out of 10 on the rarity scale (10 being the rarest).

I think that rarity scale is incomplete, or possibly out of date. I have a Ivzecks M91-30 with the uncommon poorly machined round "Kreegsmodl" receiver. It is all 100% factory forced eclectric pen matched and counterborned, typical of late war 1942 production as they fought the three front war in Stalingrad, Kurst, and the other one which I forgot. It is glass bended for accuracy in a Pro-Mag upgraded tactical stock, but of course as a wise collector I kept the original lamented Russian stock, with flakey varnishing chips.field expedited battle damage repairs and all the typical battle characters one would expect. It even has some engraving trench battle art, "CAI". Very cool stuff, if only it had a story it could tell..

LOL, an 11 on the 10 scale.
I have perhaps the rarest of all firearms: a 100% completely stock, unstippled, non-tactical, Glock.

Are you talking about the Glock 7?

I don't get it either Other than being a nice looking Tikka, what is so special about this rifle? I can't imagine that the buyer could ever break even on their purchase, even if they held onto it for another 70 years.

Nothing is special about that rifle. Yeah, it's a Tikka M39 but in my book that's a $700-800 rifle.

It's just another case of Classic firearms....laughing all the way to the bank.

It's an uncommon (and valuable) rifle to be sure, but no way I'd pay that much for one.

Pretty ingenious of them actually. They've built up a database of prospects and YouTube subscribers that they know will pay over market prices for mediocre surplus. Then, when they have something that is nice and maybe somewhat rare, rather than send it to gunbroker, they set up their own internal auction, insulated from the real world, targeted to said prospects and subscribers to see just how bat sh** crazy some of them are.

Maybe I'll quit my day job, get my 01FFL, some jr. sizes t-shirts, and a video camera.

So now that Classic has auctioned a Tikka M39 for nearly $1750, they are valuing all Tikka M39s at $1750!?!

I'm retiring soon enough. I think I might get out of collecting also. I wonder if Classic can sell off my pieces of crap for what they got for that one M39?

(not on the photo is a M39 Tikka that looks nicer then that one they sold)

Well, we will see when I get out.

Darryl

Here is a M39 Tika I got for $100
