DJI make a decent product, they function well just a bit over priced if you ask me and that's not even getting into the fact it is not open source.

Do you have a video you could post up that you have shot with it?

Thanks.

Starting from $50 for a small toy (which actually has AWESOME reviews) (Hubsan H107C X4) to a 15k-20k (depending on camera stuff/gimble) for a large octocopter (http://aerialpixels.com/shop/evoluti...n-fiber-frame/) (that was just an example)

You can also build a complete custom $LOTS!

Talking

This is the most BY FAR the BEST thing I have ever spent my money on!!!

I just keep making things that I don't have to go out and buy.

This is the coolest feeling!!!

Yes it has not gotten to a commercial stage yet (ready for the public) but the tech is not far from this.

Very smart people are working everyday to make a product (3D printer) that you can sort through a data base with your smart phone, select an object and hit print. While at your home your printer makes it! You will just need to replenish the plastic filament supply.

When this day comes say good by (to some) manufacturing slave camps.
(I don't mean that in the literal sense) but you get the point.

I did sail planes for a few years and even as simple as those were they are time and money consuming...I dont want to imagine helicopters.

Speaking of Hexacopters, check out the behind the scenes for this season of Gold Rush. They are using them to most (if not all) of the aerial footage on the show and there are some pretty cool shots they have done with them.

Also saw them being used at a 3-gun tournament. Its an interesting development as I used to be in the TV industry and did a lot of camera work...no need to be limited to booms anymore, however they are fairly loud.

DAMN IT! So I burned 3 ESC 2 days ago because I AM AN IDIOT! I totally spaced on the type of battery I have connected to test the motors

I just ordered another $75 worth of ESC's. OH and the RIGHT batts this time.

I got the 30A blue series and im flashing them with SimonK for super quick response.

Anyone else you these?

The ones I have now (well the 4 I have left ) are the Mystery Fire Dragon. I flashed them also with SimonK anyone use these?

I just wanted to try another brand cause I was having problems calibrating the Mystery and I have the blue ones on another quad and I know they work. Im tired of fussing with it and want to fly this damn thing already.!

I did finish the 3d printed gimble Well I I have it together I still need to give it a acetone bath to strengthen and smooth it.

To actually be "that guy" you have to have your facts straight. Thats not me! I would not do this.

That was another person.

Just stumbled on this thread, had no idea the owner was a calgunner.

I've been to EHobbyhouse several times and every time been very happy with the service. Last time I was in there one of the employees (green hair at the time... I think??) was helping out a young kid with an Indutrix. He spent a great deal of time and effort into not only helping the kid get it flying (props on wrong) he explained the whole thing to the kid so he understood the quad so he wouln't have issues in the future. I was really impressed, far too often you get the opposite at hobby shops.

How long ago did you move?

I'm looking into quadcopters you can program with a computer. I've found the Parrot AR and Parrot mini-quads as well as something called a Codrone.

I also found a thread in another forum where a guy hacked a SYMA x5, but I didn't really understand what he did.

I have been considering getting into the FPV racing drones, Not for racing, just because they look fun as hell and pretty affordable.

I have a Parrot AR and a mini. Very over priced in my opinion. I got the AR before good ones like DJI came out. The mini likes to throw props and make spectacular crashes. I'm going to get a spark. My son has the mavic pro. It is an amazing quadcopter.
