Here is mine, it gets a lot of use in our local shooting club. I turned down a 16" barrel to 14.5 and then permanently pinned a BattleComp on it to get it to the "appropriate" 16" length.

Nice rifle. The ARs in heat Heat actually 2 different A1 receiver equipped rifles. One was a USAF GAU-5 with the slick side receiver. The other was just your standard Colt Model 733 SBR. Only reason I know that little bit of trivia is I carried one of the many variants of the GAU-5 when I was in. So when I see one or hear of one in some movie or show I take note. The Air Force gets a little creative with their rifles. Mine was actually an 11.5" barrelled version with an A1 hider. The one in the movie has a 14.5" pencil barrel. Both are pretty common place along with the newer GUU-5 with an M4 profile barrel but the same slick side A1 receiver. Air Force likes 'em for some reason. I know I absolutely LOVED mine.

did not really mean to add the toes, I was rushing to take the pictures because my backyard neighbor was having a party. I didn't want to freak out their visitors. The more I look at it, "My really nice toes... I mean AR!!" lol

This thread is awesome. M4gery is my next assembly. Anyone know who would sell 14.5" barrels with a flash hider pinned/welded on? Or maybe a shop I can order it from then have them do it?

Is there any advantage to the 14.5" barrel with pinned flash suppressor over a 16" barrel? I only ask because I'm pretty close to ordering my upper and had a tough time choosing between the two. I figured that a pinned flash suppressor might be a pain down the road if I want to upgrade my muzzle device; but I'm no expert and am open to suggestions and comments.

They may be even more similar now, cause I just put a KAC M4 RAS on it. Looks like you have something like that.

"Those kind of iron sights" consist of a post front sight and an aperture rear sight.

The US Military has been using "those kind of iron sights" since the M1 Garand was introduced into service roughly 70 years ago, or arguably since the Springfield 1903A3 (although those are slightly different).

They are very accurate. Very dependable.

For an irons-only rifle, the USGI setup is the way to go.

Here are my go-to rifles.

The first one is a class rifle. Second is a SHTF rifle. The latter has seen some field use. Both have been flawless.
