How well does it shoot. I am doing a 80% right now, and have been looking at this upper when I get it done.
Nice build

Thanks guys! I've only had about 80 rounds of 168 gr of Federal out of it and shoots fine! I'm looking to get a muzzle brake and/or maybe an Enidine hydraulic buffer for it.

Received the last of the parts for the AR-10's today. Checked the head space on the Fulton BCG and DPMS SASS. It's tight, but it's a go.

I had to get a little creative getting that darn ejector spring out. What a pain in the rear getting it back in. Guess it helps to have the proper tools. Here is my get er done method:

Checking the head space:

And Houston we are a.............

I should have pictures up with the complete builds and parts list in a few days. I have to modify a few washers so the muzzle brake clocks just right.

From nose to tail

Step Fathers (the AR-10 with traditional upper and smaller scope):

JP Bennie Cooley Muzzle Brake
Ace hardware hardened steel washer (pain in the rear to fit)
DPMS 18" SASS mid length fluted stainless steel black teflon barrel
DPMS low profile gas block .936 (plus roll pin sold separately)
DPMS mid length gas tube
Fulton Armory Phantom rifle length hand guard DPMS pattern
Hand guard rail 2"
LaRue Tactical Harris Bipod BR-S with their LT130 QD mount
DPMS upper (came with dust cover and forward assist)
DPMS chrome BCG
Vltor BCM Gunfighter medium size charge handle
DPMS lower, came with bullet button & 10 round mag (non panther CA legal)
DPMS LPK
CMC drop in trigger with flat trigger 3.5# pull
Command Arms Interchangeable Pistol Grip
Magpul PRS ar308
DPMS Butt stock Assembly (Have a traditional stock if I want to switch it out)
Magpul 10/20 mags
Magpul PRS Extended recoil pad .5"
American Defense Recon quick release 20 MOA 30mm one piece scope mount
Millett Tactical TRS-1 30mm 4-16x50 side focus illuminated Mil-Dot

Mine:

Everything above except for
Fulton Armory Titan side cocking flat top upper
Complete BCG Titan with side cocking handle installed
American Defense Recon quick release 20 MOA with 35mm rings
Millett Tactical LRS 35mm 6-25x56mm side focus illuminated Mil-Dot

Misc:
.308 upper receiver block (claw)
PRI upper receiver take down pin vise block
Forster Head space .308 GO and NO Go tools
I already had the punches, non marring brass hammer, levels, feeler gauges, hand guard install tool, torque wrench, vise, ect ect....

I was as happy as a grade school-er on Christmas morning after finally finishing these two. I'm flying out to New Mexico (where step dad lives) in a few weeks, and I'm bringing these twins out with me. I plan on hand delivering his to him. He has a house down at Elephant Butte with a 600 yard range near by. He has a Caldwell lead sled shooting rest, and we will sight these bad boys in together.

I also made sure to get lowers with sequential serial numbers

I hope this build list helps a future AR-10 project. This AR-10 tread certainly helped me.

I changed mine up a little this week.

1. Took off the AFG and put on a QD Tangy Down Stubby
2. Took off my Magpul CTR and put on a Vltor Emod
3. Grabbed a B&T Quick-Detach Bi-Pod for bench shooting (very easy on and off and pretty sturdy as well)

I doubt any of us own one. They've barely come out.

Google it to see if there are any good reviews, but it's a little premature.

ALSO! My scope comes in today, so look out for my final project picture TONIGHT! *happy dance* Even got my feeler gauges and bubble level ready!

Dang Outkast, congrats on the light build. Mine weights more than 4lbs than yours. You the man. I thought about the UBR, but decided on the PRS. Way to go!

I'm in a wheelchair due to paralysis and don't have ab muscles so if I'm shooting off hand, I need it LIGHT! It's gotta be your SASS barrel, heard they are beasts in weight.

Your correct. The SASS, PRS, and the brake alone are super heavy. She's a bench queen so it's no biggy.

The wife getting some :-)

Not really a build, but a modification.

Remington R-25
Changed to;
DPMS Carbine tube and buffer
Magpul MIAD grip
Magpul CTR Stock
Phase5 V2 Bolt release (Works like the Magpul BAD lever but is one piece)
Blackhawk 9"-12" pivoting Bipod
BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 Large Charging Handle
Leupold 3x9 Mark 2 Scope with Larue LT 104 QD Mount
Just finished it today with the arrival of the Phase 5
I have it zeroed at 200 and cant wait until next month when I see how it does in some target events.
I haven't seen many R-25's and i'm sure fewer will look like this one.
Thanks
Don

That's true, I could have gone that route but wanted to build mine quick. Built mine in about 3 months and I'm still happy with it.

Nice builds guys! Thanks for the video. How can I NOT like a guy with SR-71 as a handle??

I recently started my MATEN build, and actually get it out of jail in the morning! I had every intention of slowly purchasing parts, but with all of the backorder BS, I snapped up a chrome Fulton BCG and a JP enhanced bolt kit last night. Got my PRS in the mail today and also have a DPMS LPK in the mail.
I would have picked up a standard DPMS bolt, but could not seem to find one. Any thoughts on JPs bolt?
I'm looking to pick up a 20" Rainier ultra match barrel. Any other thoughts on barrels?I'm ok with dropping a little coin on the barrel. Gonna use the gun to hunt with, so I want a tack driver.

Thanks! Billy

Sounds like a great build in the works. From what I've read people review the 20" Rainier Ultra match barrel really well and it can give sub MOA accuracy. I went with a 18" select barrel because I mainly do bench shooting and wanted a budget build. If I feel the need in the future I will upgrade to the Ultra match.

Default MA-TEN

Ma-Ten with DPMS 18" SASS barrel and bolt.
MI low profile gas block.
JP free float.
Armalite lower part-kit with DPMS bolt-hold device (apparently Ma-ten and Armalite bolt-hold open don't play well)
Vltor rifle stock.
In progress pic, loc-tite-ing the outer barrel nut on the JP handguard.

Thanks for the response. What kind of groups are you getting with the select barrel? I'm sure a rainier select would be plenty! (I've heard from more than one smith) Getting closer!

My best 5 shot group so far is about 1.5" at 100 yards. I am by no means a great shooter. I only started shooting pistols last year and built my AR last summer. This one I just finished last month. My buddy was able to lap two out of three shots so maybe .5"-1" group at 100 yards, we were using american eagle .308s. Not to shabby for a $259 barrel that's light and easy to maneuver with. I've only put down 100 rounds through it so hopefully it'll break in soon and become more accurate.

I also starte to reload my own ammo, hopefully I'll be able to build some consistent match loads and get better accuracy.

I'm seeing sub MOA @ 100 yards with the 18" DPMS SASS, and it's not even marketed as a match barrel. Prior to purchasing I read a lot of reviews from guys saying the same thing. I just need a better trigger now. Going to swap in a Geissele Super Semi Automatic Enhanced Trigger. A guy at the range last trip had one in his and OMG I'm sold.

I drop in the CMC single stage into my AR15, and chill out of rifle parts (yeha right that's what I tell my self now). You know how that goes

Here's my new .308 build. Basically finished after waiting 3 months for the bolt carrier. I still need a bipod & I think I'm going to throw a Nightforce on it. Guess I need to start saving some more money. I can't wait to go shoot it this weekend!!
Parts list is:
Mega monithlic upper/lower set,
Fulton 20" barrel
JP adj gas block
JP muzzle break
JP enhanced bolt
Young bolt carrier
Magpul UBR
Slash heavy buffer & spring
Daniel Defense LPK

Typically the Noveske upper is on a AR10 platform and not a DPMS platform. You can put a Noveske barrel on a DPMS platform but not the entire upper.
