Default What is your EDC folder ?

On the verge of purchasing one but just wanted to see what are folks carrying. Please add the specs and what was your deciding factor in buying your folder. Thanks in advance...
Oh my 2 candidates are the DPX HEAT/F in titanium (2.26 inch Niolox blade) and DPX HEST/F Milspec Folder (3.1 inch Sleipner blade ) Edit: 3rd candidate HEST/F Shred.

I just bought my first quality knife this past month...

Benchmade 531 Perdue

I opted to purchase that model from REI as they have a special edition which uses S30V steel over the 154CM found in their regular catalog item.

Based on what I read about the steels I made a very good choice. Its also a very light weight knife, ideal for what I wanted in an EDC.

Check out the knife regulations for the cities, counties and areas you frequent prior to investing. There are some fairly restrictive laws out there in some cities. I personally like the bench made Barrage and emissary depending on the days attire.

Mainly I carry this Benchmade Contego which is a big tough folder. But I also carry this new Benchmade Amicus (below) which is a very nice assisted flipper with an S90V blade.

BM new.jpg

I also have a Mini-Barrage an Emissary and a Kulgara.

I like the North Fork a lot too, the entire Hunt series is awesome, I really wanted to pick up the Grizzly Creek over the Triage just because of the steel they use.

I have Benchmade folders that I've had and carried for over 15 years. The older models are still great, but the steels have come a long way since then. I have a few ZT's as well, but I prefer the BM's for folders. Fixed blades I like other makers, but it's tough to beat the Benchmade folders as a EDC

Benchmade S30V Osborne. Bought it from a Calgunner. Just be sure to Loctite the clip screws, etc.

Heavy use ...

Cold Steel Recon XL with a tanto blade and a G10 grip in OD green. I bought it because it is huge and the lock got great reviews.

I own assisted opening, auto opening, and fixed blades made by SOG, Benchmade, gerber, spyderco, etc. This is my first Cold Steel knife and i really like it. Did I mention that it is huge? It's got a 5.5 inch blade!

Original owner Benchmade AFCK ATS-34 - I'm old school. It's one of the best they ever made, needs no introduction.

I've carried a SOG Trident for a while now. It's been great, I like how light it is. But if I'm going someplace with a high risk of confrontation I'll bring my QTRM5TR Boss Hog.

I carried (past tense) a Spyderco Paramilitary II, but it slipped out of my pocket while watching a movie two weeks ago. I miss that knife. I now carry a Benchmade Barrage.

Right now it's just a cheap $20 HK flak knife from big 5. My next knife will most likely be a benchmade griptillian, as soon as I get the cash together.

Really love my 551 griptilian plain edge as an edc. It's a great blend of a full size folder that isn't to heavy to tote around all day. Just looking for an excuse to upgrade to d2 or s30v blade but don't think the 154cm is gonna wear out any time soon. Still holds a damn sharp edge. Still carry an old ats34 gerber covert on occasion that is still a solid carry blade imo.

I switched back to my Benchmade griptillian. I sent it in for service a few months ago as it's almost 15 years old. It's still my favorite knife. I ordered a DPX a month before and wasn't satisfied with it at all so I returned it and had my benchmade "renewed".
Oh and at work I always carry a gerber boot knife as a last ditch.

I have a bunch I choose from, but today and often it is a ZT... 0452CF with an 0801 clip today. Also carry the 0801 often. Two great ones IMHO, but there are lots.
