You can come and watch. That's the best way to learn the range protocol before you shoot your first match. Tell the match director you are interested and usually one of the guys may let you run a few rounds after the match. If you really want to endear yourself, offer to help tear down and put away stuff.

Thanks Highlander I could not have said it any better.
Please come out and watch and ask questions, that's how I got hooked 10+ years ago.
Tomorrow is the 3 gun match, you can come out and bug Jeff Gross the match director with questions.
I've got to work tomorrow.

To quote one our club members who sometimes competes with his FN pistol:

SS197 or the equivalent is his best bet - that's the factory stuff from Fiocchi. I'll be shooting the 34 grain hollow point, and neither that nor the 40 grain Hornady will damage targets - we checked at Wholford several months ago.

So bring your pistol and holster and mags and have fun!

It's a FUN match. Frustrating occassionally, but what match isn't. Thanks for making the steel fall again. It may slow reset, but we won't have any question about whether or not we hit the target(s).

That was one of the most fun events I've been to in a long, long time. LDF did a great job putting that match together.

Although 2 texas stars on one stage was a little mean.....

Here is what you missed (not me or my video, but it is from the match).

Default LDF 5th Saturday ALL STEEL MATCH September 29th at PALA!

It's that time again, time for Linea de Fuego's San Diego ALL STEEL MATCH!
Pistol shooters, shotgun shooters, .22 shooters - come join us this Saturday, September 29th, for an all steel USPSA-style match.
This is a great match for shooters in any of the competitive disciplines - USPSA, IDPA, Police, Cowboy, etc.
We allow .22s (pistol and rifle) for this match so bring the kids or a new shooter along.

The match consists of a minimum of six USPSA style stages using only steel targets and the usual USPSA props (barricades, barrels, ports, etc.). If it's made of steel we shoot it - pepper poppers, round and square plates, movers, swingers, plate racks, Texas stars, and more. Round count is typically around 150, but bring plenty of ammo as steel is unforgiving. We recognize all USPSA pistol divisions, as well as both .22 pistol or rifle and shotgun (sorry, no magnums or .223).

State Senator Joel Anderson plans to join us and will spend a few minutes talking about current legislative efforts in California. He and his son also plan on shooting the match.

Because of the large turnout (100+ shooters) we will start registration and squadding at 7:30 AM.
Shooter's Meeting at 7:50 and First Shots Down Range at 8 AM.
Match fee is $35 for the general public and $25 for LdF members.

We have a vendor who will have food and drink available for purchase at the range.
Your support of the food vendor will help ensure that they continue to return for future matches.
If you're not planning to purchase food or drink you should bring something to drink as there is no running water at the range.

Match info:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/index.php

Directions to the range:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/ncsa.php

New shooter info:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/new_shooters.php

Bring at least 4-5 magazines, & holster if you have them, if not you may be able to use one of the
other shooters magazines, or someone in your squad will reload the empty ones and hand them back
to you while you’re shooting.

Please NO Shotgun Slugs (Birdshot only)
NO Magnum Pistol Calibers
NO Rifle Caliber Pistols (.223 etc.)

I'll be in San Diego during December and was hoping to shoot the all steel match then. I had a couple questions about shooting the stages with a shotgun.

Do we carry the shotguns from safe area/stage to stage cased, action open or action closed with chamber flag?

Are there any shot size restrictions (no slugs of course)? Never mind, I saw that #4 or smaller is required on the webpage.

We follow the LDF 3-gun rules; the shotgun magazine can be pre-loaded at the table but bring it to the line with action closed on a chamber flag or plug.
After loading at the table leave it there pointed into the berm with chamber flag showing; no handling until it's your turn.
Buckshot is not necessary and is expensive compared to the amount of shooting you'll be doing; Wally World 7.5 or 8 is plenty to knock down the steel.
Have Fun!

Default LDF 5th Saturday ALL STEEL MATCH December 29th at PALA!

Time Again for Linea de Fuego's Fifth Saturday San Diego New Years Eve ALL STEEL MATCH!
Pistol shooters, shotgun shooters, .22 shooters - come join us this Saturday, December 29th, for an all steel USPSA-style match.

Match info:

Directions to the range:

New shooter info:

Bring at least 4-5 magazines, & holster if you have them, if not you may be able to use one of the
other shooters magazines, or someone in your squad will reload the empty ones and hand them back
to you while you’re shooting.

Please NO Shotgun Slugs (Birdshot only)
NO Magnum Pistol Calibers
NO Rifle Caliber Pistols (.223 etc.)

I'll be visiting the folks in the area, and will be there (with a shotgun).

Yes you can bring both and pay twice for two entries; be sure to sign twice on the squad sheet so the squad numbers balance out. Offer to shoot first and have your second entry placed 4 or 5 down so you have time to set up.
