Ok if there is any more room in the pool I am jumping in with both feet. I figure now is the time when the foil hat brigade are gearing up after this CO shooting I need to get in an appose them. I am late to the party so if there isn't anymore room I understand.

Ok this thing seems to be rolling again. Looks like calguns is going to take over the NRA. 140 here, and that is around 10 off (10 more for 150 or so). I can only keep count on the pms and feedback I leave. Have been several who have signed up here and emailed me to complete it and I never knew their calguns username. So say just 140x300= 42000 that y'all have put in the NRA warchest during an important election year. I have no words. Thanks everyone for standing up for all gun owners.

I took advantage of an offer like this a while back and got Life Membership, then went ahead and took advantage of another great pricing deal and upgraded to Endowment Member.

Looks now there are no "upgrades" avaialble without a LOT more coinage.

Anyone have any other information on this?

I lost the link where this special upgrade offer was being...offered.

Thanks.

Should be something there for you if you are a life member. I'm a benefactor member and I thought that was the end of the road, but low and behold I can join the "Presidents Council" for the 1/2 price of 500$ for my first year's annual membership. It never ends with the NRA. I am done with any sort of upgrades. I will kick in something when I feel like it perhaps in the future, but the last payment they got from me was paying for my last two boys' life membership.

If I send 20 bucks or so to a gun group, it has gone to the SAF, just because I like their litigation. Don't get me wrong, I am a big NRA supporter but they have tapped me out for a while. I don't mind sponsoring new life members, so I feel that is my little contribution to them.

All of you folks who have done so, thanks for standing up for all gun owners. However, please consider the Second Amendment Foundation. It is a measly 15$ a year. No frills group, no nice magazine, maybe a quarterly newsletter if they don't miss it, but 30 lawsuits in federal court currently. These are the guys who gave us McDonald vs Chicago, and almost everything since. Worth a look
www.saf.org
BTW, before I even started this thread at calguns, I had sponsored close to 200 NRA life members. I called the SAF and asked them if there was a similar special they could give, and I would try to help. They declined based on the fact their life membership only cost 150 and is a bare bones price to start with. Heck all the stuff they send and the postage it takes to get it to you is probably 50 bucks right off the top. Belt buckles, plaques, and a box full of other stuff. I was surprised, because for two years as a regular member, I didn't even get a card. Seeing them litigating was enough reward for me.

Agreed. I'm going to also set up donation of my gun collection when I die to the NRA Heritage Society and then that's it. Everything else to Calguns or the SAF. Maybe I'll buy a life insurance policy through the NRA when I get older.

Thank y'all for considering the SAF. Very proud to be a member of them. The NRA remains the 800 pound gorilla in the room and they are very important. I just get excited about the SAF and their litigation. Litigation is important. I might throw 20 or so at the NRA every now and then, but for the past few years I just throw a small monthly contribution at the SAF. I am on a committee for the local Friends of the NRA, so it is not like I am forgetting about the NRA at all.

I just got off the phone with GOA, and set up an easy pay life membership with them.

Thank you Robert,

Just completed my NRA LIFE Membership....
Yourcrna,

Dear ROBERT..........
Thank you for your friendship and support of NRA. This e-mail confirms your transaction with the National Rifle Association, which will appear on your credit card statements as "NRA Membership Internet".

Thank you for your unbreakable bond with every American who has stood tall for freedom. I believe with all my heart that our fight for the Second Amendment is the greatest cause on this earth. And YOU are the lifeblood and the strength of the NRA.

Through your support today, you've brought us one step closer to winning the battles we now confront -- threats to freedom's heart and future that are as grave as any we've faced in our lifetimes. And because of your commitment to the NRA, I'm more confident that we can win these battles that will define the very meaning of America for decades to come.

Thank you again for your steadfast commitment to preserve and defend our Second Amendment rights!

Wayne LaPierre - NRA

if hardcore is code for "never gets anything useful done, because they're too busy tilting at windmills and refusing to compromise", sure, they're hardcore.

I would also like to get in on the $300 lifetime membership. The current post-Aurora climate means now is the time to take the plunge!

I like them. You can see that others have their opinions, and I would hazard to say he is almost right. For the sake of not turning this thread away from its goal (which is my fault) I will pm you. I will give you an example or two where the GOA held the feet of the NRA to the fire.

GOA immediately went on the attack on the Aurora shooting, because like all of our national tragedies, from 9-11 to columbine it occurred in a gun free zone.

Man, this thread got me pumped up! Money is tight, so I don't have $300 for the lifetime membership, but I signed up for the smaller membership deal. Kudos Robert!

153 confirmed calguns members are new NRA life members. My best count is that there are about 11 more that signed up here and then emailed me instead of PM, so really it it more like 163 or so. That is awesome.

I will say this again because it is worth repeating. A while back a gentleman on this forum sponsored me. Hawk1 was his username. I signed up on calguns just for the deal. He sponsored me and told me to pass it on one day. That is why you have a guy from Alabama on a California gun forum doing this. It has been a pleasure, and I will do it until the NRA stops it.

GOA immediately went on the attack on the Aurora shooting, because like all of our national tragedies, from 9-11 to columbine it occurred in a gun free zone.
would love to see some good examples thereof... Having an opportunity to change my opinion would be welcome.

we can always use more sane & effective orgs on our side.

I'm holding off on upgrading my membership until I finish my pending move.

Start a thread on them somewhere and I will be there. I am not trying to be rude or anything, I just don't want to turn this one into an argument.

I decided to take the plunge on this deal with robert late on july 8th....At 11pm, in fact. Amazingly, he got back to me in under 20 minutes, and by 11:35 that same night I was signed up.

Today i received my NRA welcome package, and just wanted to say thanks again for the hookup!

I too reached out to Robert a few weeks ago. He got back to me within minutes. Later that evening, I had signed up.

I just received my NRA welcome package in the mail today.

Thanks again Robert — you are doing a great service to the community!
