Thumbs up Just finished Louis Awerbuck's handgun class at Reed's

I just took this class yesterday (I think it was the first one offered), and I walked out of there feeling much more confident with my handgun. It was about 3 hours of classroom and 5.5 hours of range time. It focused on defensive tactics, holster draws, and sighting techniques. Awesome, to say the least. Immediately after I signed up for the two day class. My holster draw is fast, and my shots are much more accurate. I can't imagine how much money in ammo I'm going to save. Tons of fun, and highly recommended for anybody with a handgun (experienced or not).

Thumbs up

Sounds like a great class and a good time! Good for you for getting out and training with your weapon. I definitely need to get some training time in soon.

Thanks, $300 isn't all that bad. How does this course compare to the one where it's $4something and you have to bring 500 rounds with you at Reeds?

After taking the class, will Reed's let you double tap and shoot from a holster whenever you go there?

Once you complete the stage 2 class (2 day defensive handgun), you can then holster draw and double tap. You get to shoot on the law enforcement side.

I'm not sure. I haven't taken that one. I ended up only going through about 150 rounds for the afternoon.

Or you could just go to Jackson Arms in SSF. Holster seems to be restricted somewhat but double and triple taps are permitted to your heart's content.

A year ago December I took the AWT intro to combat pistol 2-day class, and that's the deal that was correct then. They DID want you to keep up your skills, and do it at Reed's. We used about 700 rounds in 2 days. Sore thumbs from loading mags!

Just checked with Reed's web site - AWT no longer there, and AWT's web site has a training sites page 'we are no longer associated with Reed's' message. I have no idea what that is all about.

For class schedule check out this link-

http://www.reedsindoorrange.com/events2007.html

Anything that says YFA is an Awerbuck class. There's seven stages total. I'm not sure if I can afford to do them all....

Eric and Walt had a business disagreement and subsequent fallout. If you want details then I suggest contacting one or the other directly.

Thanks, ryang - I don't know either gentleman. Since I don't get down to Reed's often, I was a little surprised but it has little effect on me; I suppose anyone who uses Reed's already knows enough.

Nice review of your class in the other thread.
