Other info:18" barrel, pre-safety riffle, JM proof on left side, Bought in 198?, all original except the add on scope, fired about 100 rounds, works perfectly and smoothly, have minor scratches here and there, some small pitting. FTF PPT FFL, please PM if interested

Good luck! They're going for $800-$1000, IF you can find one. And the newer ones have had reported feeding issues so that makes the "pre-Remington" ones that much more valuable.

If you're looking at a $500 budget take a look at the Rossi lever actions. Not old Marlin or Winchester quality, but not too bad for under $500.

This one sold for $875.

Big 5 in Walnut Creek just got a shipment of Rossi 357s in for $540. Not bad at all.

Sadly rossi levers are better than new marlins levers in most opinions
