poolee dealyo? They all look old.
Might be like that IDF deal where civilians go and support the rear so the real GIs can go to the front. "Recruiting Since the first day of our USAFVR is founded, we have sent five young men and women to join the National Guard. USAFVR is the perfect resource for youngsters to join the Army. With the guidance of the National Guard, we know the right way to guide you to archive your professional goal. Contact us if you have any interest to join the US Army, we will provide you the right information and we are able to train you to archive your goal..." |

Thank God they are led by three-star general "Commander Wang."
I wonder if you get a free set of Ginzu knives when you join...

Their website says:
The USAFVR is an unincorporated and nonprofit organization authorized by the state of California . Our mission is to support the California National Guard in this homeland defense and homeland security mission.

Weird. Are they new? Not much out there about them. Address of admin looks like a nondescript apartment or office suite on google streetview. The ISP is out of Boston that is hosting the site.

Really weird. I didn't know about the CSMR until I got out of the regulars and joined the guard, so I'm sure there is all kinds of stuff out there that is a mystery to me. Things get more and more surreal as you crawl into the catacombs of authorized and semi authorized part time support organizations. It still kind of freaks me out to see people walking around in ACUs with "CALIFORNIA" in the place of "U.S. ARMY" on their name tapes.

I'm not knocking it, I'm just saying that I did a double take when I saw the "CALIFORNIA" name tape. These guys however seem to have only recently been formed. Their website seems to have been written by someone without a strong grasp of English. I wonder if they go to any semblance of basic training.

I remember dealing with the NY Guard once, I guess an equivilant of the group you are with Capo, from what I could tell they were mostly retired individuals who still wanted to help out. I'm not sure what they actually did but I guess they were there to help us get ready to head down to NYC to do a security mission. The only issue I had with them was this one female who was rocking the CIB, yeah I wanted to cut it right off of her uniform.

The site seems to be geared towards Chinese (the location in Monterey Park points that way too, if Chinese characters weren't enough of a hint).
The "authorized by the State of California" part reminds me of the scams run in L.A. The "authorization" is there, alright, but it may be the authorization to collect sales tax for all I know. I'd notify the authorities. If it's legit, then it's legit, no harm done.

On one page with the photo of Commander Wang they have: Introduction: (text) History: (more text) Benefits: (NOTHING MENTIONED!) I have to wonder. If one of these guys walks up to me wearing a USAFVR helmet and uniform (?), can I tell him to F-off, or am I required to follow his orders? If you REALLY want to be scared, type 1103 S. San Gabriel Blvd, #H., San Gabriel CA 91776 into the Google! search window! This really IS something to look into. Last edited by gravedigger; 07-03-2010 at 10:03 PM.. |
