Default Commentary on CZ 527, 6.5 Grendel.

Folks,

I purchased a CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel some time back. The good it is well made, metal work is beautiful, and bolt cycles well, mags work great. But the rifle has an Achilles heel. The stock, mine is a Turkish walnut unit.
CZ has to work on it. The barrel is not free floated, although it said it was free floated from the factory. Had to relieve the barrel channel, still have more work to do. I took to the range x 2, shooting 118gr Cavity Back bullets it would return sub-moa groups at 100yds SOMETIMES. The zero would wander, despite letting the barrel cool.
I have yet to take it back to Angeles, since the fore end was relieved. But the rifle has great potential, but a lousy stock. I will go Monday to Angeles, with the stock relieved, some new ammo and see. But to hedge my bets, I bought a Howa 22 inch barreled, #2 contour, in Highlander camo.
It was my duty, and my b-day!!!. Keeping the CZ, but my Howa will be my go to gun. A2

I would not have sent it back to CZ just for the stock, have it pillard and or glass bedded.

Try some good grade bullets in it and see if the groups shrink.

Default That’s disappointing

I’ve been eyeing Grendel for years, wanting to take the plunge.

Generally speaking I am a big fan of CZ's products. I bought a little 452( .22 LR) lefty for my significant other, and when I got it home, gave it a thorough cleaning and noticed the patch was sticking ever so slightly about 4 inches in from the breach. I bore scoped it and found a tooling scar running 360deg around the bore about 4inches in, so its going back for a re-barrel. I could do this work myself, but CZ has to (ought to) fix their own screw ups, so its going back. I'm kind of wondering if due to CZ's increasing popularity, quality may be suffering for some reason or other? Not that I haven't seen similar issues with other brands,Manufacturing can at times be an imperfect process, but disappointing nevertheless.
