Default "The Last Post" on Amazon Prime

Anyone watching "The Last Post" on Amazon Prime? It is about a company of Red caps (British MPs) in Aden in 1965. Just watched the first episode and greatly enjoyed it. For the obligatory C&R reference, the Webley MkIV .38 is much in evidence as are #4s and 98ks in the hands of the insurgents.

Great trailer. I'll put it on my list after I finish The Notebook and Twilight.

I noticed last night that the Brits are using Ishapore 1A rifles! Most likely the Sterlings are Ishapore knock offs also.

Watched it about 2 months ago. You might also checkout Godless, Bosch, Sneaky Pete, and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.

If you can find The Seige of Jadotville watch it as well. "We used every bullet twice"

New season of Bosch starts in April and I think the 2nd season of Sneaky Pete starts next week.

Godless: The firearms used are pretty accurate for the period. The characters and behaviors are definitely 20th century. Generally, a well-done adult western if you can look beyond the fact that no one in the wild west era acted as shown in the series.

Seige of Jadotville: Extremely well-done and tense drama. The movie starts out slowly, but by the end you are on the edge of your seat. Based on a true story. These soldiers deserved better from their home country.

The Merwin Hulbert revolver wielded by the petite dark haired woman gets the prize for the most unique actual firearm in a recent western. The firearms were pretty realistic for the time except the Model 92 carbine carried by Roy. I liked the Henry rifle used to good effect by Alice and the Colt 1872 conversion carried by Roy Goode also.

The German chick firing her single actions at the end is my ideal of a frontier companion! Takes no crap and shoots straight.

I think Bosch is by far the best of the three I tried.

I don't like Lenny Bruce's sick comedy and therefore passed on Maisel. But it is very popular so most here will like it.

Godless has people with modern attitudes and prejudices imposed on my beloved nineteenth century. I would rather see phasers and Jetson flyers in an old West show than have modern sensibilities and ideals imposed, I can't make it through even one episode.

When I watched Jadotville I was a little confused as to why the sniper swapped his #4T for a Bren to make that long shot. I know that the Bren is supposed to be very accurate for a light machine gun, but would a marksman really pick that over a scoped rifle in such a situation?

Having shot both, I'd say it's entirely plausible. It's hard to imagine how accurate a Bren can be until you shoot it.

Thanks for the heads up on The Last Post. Just binge watched the whole series!

Reminded me how cool it would be to have a Sterling...

Hope there is a season two.

I used to own a semi Sterling, the Mk6. I had a dummy barrel for it that made it look like the real deal when it was installed. Sorry that I sold the gun and magazines when the last 'assault gun' registration happened.
