Default 9mm Full Size Stainless Steel Recommendation

So many beautiful firearms. I'm just looking for that one that will last me a lifetime. Customizable sites, rail system, and plenty of accessories. Must be accurate, reliable, functional, and have great appearance in stainless steel.

Did you pass on the Sig 226 SSE import??

Better off with a 1911. Look in the sales forum. There are plenty in there. Take your pick.

For me stainless in Autos has lost its luster. I have a Springer that was high polished on the slide slabs and it looked great but scratched easily. I finally had it Cerakoted and could not be happier.

That said if I was looking for a stainless 9mm I would hunt down a CZ 75B or 85 in stainless. Here is one that sold a few months ago. No rail but a pretty gun. It would be nice if they made the HiPower in stainless but they never did.

Many people like the 92 Inox and they come up pretty often. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...highlight=inox

You may also like the Gen 3 SW autos. I think they are pretty cool guns. They are reasonable when you can find them. They came in stainless.

Default 9mm Full Size Stainless Steel Recommendation

CZ stainless are very nice looking but expensive. So are all Stainless Sigs. The Beretta 92FS Inox not so much. All the newer ones have black controls and the lower is anodized grey. The cost to replace all the black with stainless is an expensive PIA. The Inox trigger bar is near impossible to find. You’ll have to look for an older model 92 Inox (brigadier would be nice). Gen 3 SW are nice but usually in .45 or 10mm. They are also older and some replacement parts are out of production.

If you are comfortable with the interstate familial transfer, get the new Dan Wesson Wraith in 9mm:

Most people missed it, but OP wants one with rails.

OP - I can only think of 2 pistols: Sig stainless, which heidad01 has already mentioned, but you will most likely pay an extremely high markup as this is off roster. The other pistol is a Beretta Vertec Inox, which is the most cost effective and is on roster. I cannot think of any other stainless 9mm with rail and on roster unless you do refinishing of a pistol, like a CZ SP-01.

looked at the CZ, Russian Gun 😉. Was wondering how hard will it be to get accessories for them. Amazing Russians created a functional gun that looks good, just as they did with a AK47.

Go to the california gun roster.

Go to 9mm semi-auto section.

Find stainless gun that you like, and has the features you want....then buy that gun.

That's it....it's really that simple.

OR....

Go to the Calguns classified ads.....look at the guns there, buy the one with the features you want.

Almost got NIB Sig p226R-9-SSE from San Diego but the seller wanted $100 upfront without even showing the gun. Still would like to get the P226 9mm SSE at slightly marked up price. If you know some one that is moving to CA or moved to California and like to sell a P226 9mm SSE. Please let me know.

There are some Stainless Sigs in the market section but in .40. Too bad you're not a fortay guy.

So trigger or method of operation is not important? Is roster listing important, or are you willing to wait perhaps 6 - 18 mos for the right one to come around and then pay a premium for it?

If a stainless elite P226 9mm shows up, you are going to be fighting a hundred guys to buy it - so I hope you have a fat roll of hundos and a money is no object attitude. Slightly marked up price isn't going to happen. Very marked up price is more like it.

Good luck.

What he said.

Those are very rare and the best of the 226s.

If you find a new or even near new Stainless Elite 226 in California, you gotta fight your way (money in hand) to the front of the line. Everybody and their cousins want one of those and willing to pay top $.

I do like SA/DA and the 10lbs 1st pull / 4lbs pull afterword on the sig P226, and the look of SS and accuracy on the Elite model.

Yes, but the only "accuracy accessories" you'll need are ammunition and range time.

Leave the sights alone. The SA Loaded 9mm has great target sights.

Yes, great gun.

Pluses: it is one of the only 9mm 1911 on-roster. It is a real 1911, in 9mm. Customer Service is excellent. There are a ton of gunsmiths and parts to customize it. They sometimes pop up for sale in the $800 range.

Minuses: it has an internal lock, but that can be eliminated using $10 in parts from Brownells - like it never happened. No DA/SA trigger if you had your heart set on it. It is not a Nighthawk or Wilson

Thank you all. I got me a new Sig P226 SSE and new P229 SSE to add to my collection. Now I will need to get a bigger safe so that the guns do not sit one on top of another. A good problem to have.
