Default Found inside stock. 1926 Remington Model 12 rimfire prices

Found this rolled up inside the stock of a Model 12A. Probably been in there since it was new
when it sold for $12.65. Now that is what lunch costs.

Pretty cool! Have you checked the barrel date code to see what year it was made, and get an idea how old that paper is?

I couldn't find any date code markings on the barrel straight away, looks like there might be something really close to the receiver, but I still need to clean it up though.

My guestimate based on the serial is around 1926

And the super fancy one was like a grand today.
I wonder how many they sold to the Richie Richies back then?

Here is the instruction side link for future reference.

I have never even encountered a Higher Grade of the Model 12. Never knew they even offered them.

But that is not surprising, as that was alot of extra scratch back then to spend. Maybe it was the owners dream to get one someday.

Neat find OP.

I say you make a copy of the original ad, write on it which you want and put it in an envelope with a check for $12.75 then send it off to Remington.

They're going bankrupt so maybe they'll send you one and consider it some kind of write-off.

Besides you put an extra $0.10 in for inflation.

Seriously though, cool find thanks for sharing.

I think Rem stamped some of those barrels before they were installed, I've found a couple where the last digit is right at the front edge of the receiver.
The Winchester data I have gives the retail price on the guns for a couple of years that they were sold.
The Rem Model 12's competitor at the time would have been the Win Model 61. The 61 sold for $25 new in 1932, and the exposed hammer Model 62 sold for $18.

I cut my teeth shooting my fathers M-12C. Probably the first firearm I ever fired...... That would look good framed and hanging on my museum wall

Pic's of my Fathers (now mine) 12-C "Target". Barrel code "KR %"... Made in May of 1924. My Father was five years old. He received it as a birthday present....
