Default Steel challenge/Rimfire challenge?

Curious if anybody here has attended any of these events. how long is the event, a day? half a day, or more? Is there a form you fill out beforehand to participate, or can you show up and fill it out at the event. Any safety courses required before I can participate and compete? I would love to participate in one of these events for 2018, wouldn't mind taking a weekend off to travel up north either.

The length of the Steel Challenge event in Piru at the California Technical Academy range depends on how many guns you want to shoot. Generally speaking, it will take you approximately three hours to shoot all eight courses the fire with a couple friends each shooting one gun, but you can shoot multiple classes. The Steel Challenge event lasts all day because you can start on your own time between 8am and noonish, and you move at your own pace. I recommend you start about 8am if you want to shoot multiple guns/classes, and bring a couple friends as the ideal group size is 4. It is my personal favorite shoot now and has been extremely helpful in helping improve my USPSA practical pistol/PCC shooting due to the speed and accuracy demands of Steel Challenge.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Isn’t shooting steel one quarter of an inch from your muzzle dangerous?

Go, well worth the drive. Done by early/mid afternoon. Dry range, bring water n snacks. Closer to you is Prado Running Gun, they have a Wednesday Nite Steel match.
