So I'm very new to gunsmithing, but not fabrication. I do a lot of 3D CAD work and 3D printing, so I'd like to try a simple cosmetic project.
I'd love to have a AWM/AW-338 in real life, but I'll settle for a knockoff that shoots a 22LR. I've been looking into whether or not I can fit the guts of a ruger 10 22 inside either an airsoft AWM or just 3D print the chassis myself, and it looks like it will fit. I've attached an image of an overlay using models I've found online for both. But the 10-22 isn't bolt fed, so I'd like to get that action in there. Would there be a better cheap 22LR gun I can use that is both magazine fed and bolt action and about the same size? Update #1: I'm looking at the Marlin 22XT, but for about $50 more, I can get the Savage 93R, which isn't a 22LR, but the price difference is so small. CZ 455 for bolt action...
or 10/22 foot print, uses 10/22 triggers, but bolt-action like operation... The PWS Summit Straight pull receiver, though they're tough to find now: ![]() ![]()

#1) Calgunner Defcon has done lots of 22LR builds using airsoft shells. For example, this thread may be of interest to you:

You thinking the 1969? 455 seems a bit more than I'd like to spend.

I'm currently looking at the Mossberg 817 due to the cheap cost. |
