Default Where to sell used rifles?

Just wondering if any local stores will give fair used gun prices for rifles if I wanted to sell them? Someone once told me you should expect about 50% to 75% of their actual used retail price. They could be totally off. I don't think most stores make that profit margin of 50 to 25% on new guns. However, I can be totally off too.

You will get the most from private sales. Ffl will give you 50% on a good day however that can vary on condition, rarity and if they know they have a customer lined up for a quicker sale. Remember that the ffl is there to make money and stay in business.

I would sell them here.

IIRC Turners takes a 25% commission on consignments.

You should do better than that here with a little patience.

A store will offer you wholesale basically. New firearms are like new cars. There is less mark up them than used.

Scarcity and popularity will play a factor in how much you are offered. I know of some stores that seriously lowball customers too.

I personally won’t sell a gun to a store, I’m going to sell it at retail.

You’ll get half of what is is really worth, so 10% of what you think it’s worth.

At anything over 15% charge for consignment it can over price your gun and it won't sell. They will then ask you to lower your price.

You can sell it easily in this site. Will sell fast if priced slightly below market price. You'll still get more than if you sold it to a gun store.

If you want what it's worth auction them off. SoCal.. Little Johns is one. If you have some that are interesting you can dicker on the fees...

Ditto on Calguns Marketplace. Be patient because many people will have to see your post before you find one that's looking for your particular gun. Not everyone logs on and looks every day, so it will take some time. Also, you will probably have a better chance at selling it as stock rather than with all of your add-ons that might have made good sense to you, but may not appeal to a prospective buyer. You can always sell the accessories here too or on e-Bay (be aware of the sellers fee).

You will deal with a better class of people here too IMHO.

I have sold probably a dozen on calguns over the last few years. Gunshop is like a pawnshop...if you need to buy your girlfriend a wedding ring because she is pregnant.

Im glad they are around, but selling your guns if time is on your side is a a much better financial deal.
