Default Gavin Newsom plans to go further on gun control than Jerry Brown

Hours after another mass shooting in Southern California, Gov.-elect Gavin Newsom said Thursday that he “will raise the bar” on gun control when he takes over in January.

Gavin Newsom is a lying, cheating slickster and will be is the worst mistake California has ever made if he gets now that he has been elected Governor. Hollywood movie producers look to him and his oleaginous persona as a model for the corrupt "bad guy" politician character. This guy is so greasy, he could lubricate an entire arsenal of AR-15s just by breathing on them.

Who wants to bet he's talking about SB374 and expanding gun violence restraining orders?

Trick question: He's referring to all anti-gun bills Moonbeam vetoed

What else would you expect from a SF boy agenda? Sanctuary state, gun prohibition, borrow more money to feed lazy.

It is. Anytime I mention the gun ownership, left-leaning folks (esp. youngsters) roll their eyes and ask shockingly of my reason to ever have a gun. It's over and beyond their common sense.

I did.

Unfortunately, 60% of Californians live in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles Metropolitan Area which are very Democratic.

Not surprisingly, Democrat Newsom won with 56% of the vote to Republcian Cox's 44%.

The demographics aren't there for political relief at the state level.

President will pack the court with conservative justices in this lame duck session. RBG fell and broke a couple of ribs. Not the first fall. Possibly a minor stroke. She will not make it to 2020.
Let Newsom do whatever he wants.

Let him have at it. What was the rate of compliance with AW registration?
Have those numbers ever become public? No, and they won't be.

Zircon John, I've not seen a single person on Calguns they said they voted for Newsom. But I've seen a few that said they did not vote in the governor's race. And I guess that's probably about the same thing.

He doesn't care about the laws as written. I could see him not waiting for a bill and on his first day in office - hungover - just ordering a bunch of state and willing local Leos to go down the list and immediately confiscate all registered aws and dros'd Handguns. Whether we like it or not. In case you've forgotten, that's how he rolls.

Well, what else can he do? Pass a law like Washington just did that declares all semiauto rifles (including 22s) to be "assault weapons"? Yeah, probably gonna happen. I mean, why not? Then he will, like the most recent bill, require them to be registered as "assault weapons": with all of the transport restrictions and the lack of transferability.
Eliminate CCW? He runs a risk if he does that the Ninth will hold that there is a right to "bear" outside the home (as the State previously admitted in oral argument in Peruta), and that the elimination of CCW means that the state must allow open carry. (And we go back to open unloaded as an "adequate" exercise of the right). On the other hand, there is that recent Circuit court opinion out of Massachusetts saying there is no right to bear...and I can see the Ninth going down that road, even if it will almost assure Supreme Court review. And the last thing this State wants is another Supreme Court case, especially not one involving carry.

He can go full retard and adopt a "smart" gun bill that will, at some point, eliminate every semi-auto handgun on the Roster.

He can mandate training before a transfer of a firearm is permitted, ala Washington State--just because it will cost us money.

He can increase transfer fees and impose "per round": ammo taxes.

He can expand red flag laws (and probably will although the one in effect now barely gets used).

Are we depressed yet? I am.

There are around 25 million eligible voters in this state. Only about 19.7 million are registered to vote.

The two biggest statewide races were for senator and governor. The swine/leon match up had around 6.5 million total votes cast and the Cox/scum one had 7.3 million votes. At best we're looking at a 37% voter turnout for governor, and this after a massive effort by the roids to get voters to the polls. The repubs effort? Not so much.

Breaking this down even further we have around 5.1 million registered repub voters. Cox got 2.962 million votes which is 58% of all repubs. Most likely a decent number of votes for Cox came from independents so the actual number of repubs who voted for Cox is less. Scum won with 4.33 million votes. Mathematically Cox could have won on repub votes alone if just 90% voted for him. 90% participation is unrealistic but factor in the independent vote and a Cox victory would have been very doable HAD MORE REPUBS GOTTEN OFF THEIR REARS AND VOTED FOR HIM.

After this, and rejection of Prop 6 I can only conclude that voters in this state want to commit fiscal suicide.

if newsome decides to do "raids" on gun owners after they disregard their "turn in your guns or else" threat letter.

i hope the state can afford to have a shortage of officers either due to them quitting or getting killed doing these raids.

calguns is full of law abiders and will without thought turn in their guns and bend over and take the anal rape, but there will be gun owners in the rest of the state that would also without thought shoot to protect themselves and their rights.

It would get bloody no question. Which would beg, isn't bloodshed what he is against?

I'm no legal expert at all, but I think a huge legal over reach like that would expedite things to SCOTUS, I don't think it would take years as some seem to fear. I think it would happen very quickly.

If Newsome gets his wish to ban ugly rifles, who will take them from the gun owners? Who will obey that order?

Nobody wants to say, they are scared.

Hmmm.. what more can he do? Gun control opponents tend to follow examples set by others. I would not be surprised if they try to go down a road similarly like the Israeli model with strict requirements to get a gun permit, no assault weapons, yearly renewals with accompanying psych exam and referrals from commanding officers/chief law enforcement officer.
