I'm not trying to crap on this GB by any means but my concern is the pricing they list on the website. One frame for $99.95 each, 20 for $3000.00 and 100 for $12,500.00? Doesn't seem to be an appropriate pricing schedule which leads me to wonder if they are legit.

If you're going to use a dremel, use one of the acra mill plus's. I used one to turn a Garand receiver into a BM-59 receiver (there are some rails to cut). Pretty sure it's going to hold better precision than the router table...
Those who are worked up about the lack of precision in a dremel are thinking of the way most folks use dremels. Chuck it into an acra mill, use calipers, go slowly, and finish your cuts with a file. If YOU are willing to put in the time to do it right, then it can be right. If you're impatient, yes you're going to screw it up badly. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=488259

to be fair, the description clearly states $99 now, and $99 at TOD.
but you are correct, the price listed is only $99, my best guess is it's a system thing, where the cart automatically adds the item price to the total, seeing how they want it to add $99, they might have no choice but to put $99 there. just a wild guess. |

On a side note, the design is reminding me of this - http://www.cncguns.com/projects/stiframe.html

Spoke to the boys are Ares, they will be fixing their website, and reminded them on pictures.
Also, their build parties are usually around $65, though in this case there will be less work to be done given the reduced work over an ar15, so the cost may be less. Anyone on this group buy is welcome to drop by Ares' Build parties and complete your build when released

Just so I'm clear here, we pay the down, pay what's left (which seems to be up in the air right now), and we can be involved in a build party? I like this plan.

is this a cost per frame? .. any type of break if you have multiple frames, like 2-4 frames?

Question: I'm in for a build party! So, do I still need to purchase my own jig to participate? Or does paying the build party $ include use of a shared jig?

I'm not sure how the 1911 party will work but that is how the AR15 ones work. Ares provides all needed to build your lower.

Why is everyone so confused, it says this right in the description:
want to preorder it is only $99.95 to reserve your Rudius and $99.95 at time of delivery

I agree. Not sure why people are not understanding this. Total price if ordering a single from Ares is $200. Participate in this GB and your total is $125. Last edited by Dark Sky Solutions; 05-23-2012 at 4:18 PM.. |

So they're not $100 if I buy directly from them and we are getting cheaper right? JK couldn't help myself

Are everyone's questions going to be answered and pictures posted of the actual product before the June 15th deadline for payment?
*I am on the list even though in my original post I agreed at $102.5 instead of the $125 price. I am fine with remaining on the list until pictures are posted and some of the questions surrounding the frame are answered, then I may or may not still be interested* |

The modification of the grip frame does in fact provide an opportunity to run a Para, or STI, or SVI type double stack magazine... Valid question, and it was not directly answered. But I assume it'll be single stack... Given CA and all...

I'm already on the interested list for one frame, but I won't be sending payment until I see photos of a finished product.
Hard to believe payments are already being accepted considering the grip detail isn't even nailed down. Let alone injection mold tooling/etc. Not saying this is a scam by any means but I'm hesitant to spend Monday on something I haven't seen, especially considering it isn't a standard configuration like the STI frames. As of right now I would rather save my cash and spend it on an STI grip and mill my own STI style frame. |

So a few questions.
Will and members in SoCal be available to help finish the 80% frames? I am willing to drive a bit. I just want to do one and dont want to invest in the jig and tooling for it - all ready did that for the 80% AR's . Would or course be willing to pay for machine time. Will 4.25 Commander slides work on these frames? If I can build it in the 4.25 I would be interested. I want to do one in .357 SIG |

1. Since they're renting out CNC mills, no jig is needed.

Speculation on my part since I have been to the AR Lower build party but the jig will most likely be needed for drilling the holes. They also provided that one on the AR lower parties. That is assuming we even need the CNC. The first post is saying a router table will be needed.
I'm thinking the 1911 will probably be similar. Only time will tell. Last edited by Prc329; 05-29-2012 at 7:38 PM.. |

don't know why no one including myself didn't check their facebook. this picture was dated may 6th. So it does exist. The grip will have checkering says previous posts. THERE WE HAVE A PICTURE. back to bussiness. What the heck is the difference between the 70 and 80 series? I've asked and no one answered. I believe someone could take the time to explain to me now =D. Are we limited to just 70 series or would an 80 work as well? I want to start gathering parts but this unanswered question is stopping me

also stated under their comments for this picture was this "Ares Armor First one we do will be a single stack... we have it worked out to do a double stacked as well but that will be released at a later date.

It's possible this FB pics is NOT what we are looking at for our GB. Just a thought.
