Glad to hear that it is still in the works. Eagerly awaiting. Sorry if I'm mixing threads.

Turns out isterlock was using 7.62x39 reticle mixed with 5.56 marking! Waiting for them to clear it up and added the hud

Question 4x14 and 20 moa rail

How would you set this scope up with a Remington 700 sps 26" barrel with 20 MOA rail so that the radical works properly ?

P.S which bye the way looks completely awesome !

When will it be in stock and is the AK scope on the market yet ?

Both will be here in a few months. As far as the zero it depends on the fps. For you most likely dead center at 100 yards with a 175 SMK.

First let me say thank you for the quick reply just have one more question.

So the 20 MOA rail will not mess with how the radical works, other an when I need more elevation. And if I use more elevation will the math work out correctly, I mean can it be use like a normal mil not scope at that point ?

Correct all the mils and mil turrets are still there for complete firing solutions.
I recommend an anti-cant device or bubble.
Also hang about 3.5" of med size yarn of your gun to get wind readings at shooter location.

Yes. Once you zero, the reticle will do everything it is supposed to. The only real point to the 20 MOA mount is to allow you more vertical adjustment when you are DIALING IN a firing solution at long range using the mils/turrets.

Any other dealers? That one is now OOS.

Also, if I order on your site do you think it will be here by the end of October?

Thought I'd share with 4-14 ACSS owner's. If you're thinking of flip up caps, I'd recommend the Vortex over Butler Creek. I just got a set, and they fit quite nice. Damn near perfect. Caps stay firmly in place and have a nice snap when opening/closing (Dimitri don't hurt me...haha). They seem like they were made for this scope.

Size 5 eyepiece
Size 6 objective

Dimitri,

That I did, last weekend. Was actually first time shooting the new build as well and seeing what the barrel likes. I don't reload, only brought a few brands with me. Seemed to like MSR 62 gr and Superformance 77SMK. Gonna bring a few more next round. Range is only 100yds. Searching for a range to take this puppy out farther.

Might just end up getting a 308 bolt action to make better use of hud.

Don't know fps. Barrel is 18"

Fuzion MSR 62 gr 2750 fps
Hornady BTHP 223 75 gr 2790 fps
(I'm assuming these are tested out of a 20" or 24")

Was able to find the 5.56 of these.

Fusion 62 gr 3000 fps
Hornady BTHP 75 gr 2920 fps
(Guessing 16" barrel)

Found a range about an hour away that goes out to 300 yds. I doubt I'll find anything farther than that. I'll zero at 1"-1.5" low as recommended and test out the bdc. Although I know it's not a true test for the reticle.

Damn, wish I could find a place that goes farther out

Yeah those numbers look weird!
2750 seems about right on the 62. Who told you to dial an inch n half low? Try dead center first. If not 1/2" high at 100 on the 62.

I read one of your posts that recommended it. Actually, you recommended this on another site as well. I believe arfcom.

As for the numbers, was only quoting what was on the box. Don't know barrel lengths used to achieve data.

That is at a specific bullet weight, shape, and BC, at a specific FPS. Did you match up ALL of those factors to get that zero?

Well of course not. Just using as a reference point to get started. Trial and error my friend. And Dimitri did say TRY.

That was for M855 5.56 not .223.

I say try because you dont have actual fps or BC
Try to get to a chronograph maybe someone can let you shoot through theirs. I have a feeling you ll be on with 1/2" high at 100 yards

Fair enough. If you were on my side of the state, I'd try and get you out to use my chrony, but with the current heat, it's probably better that you are up North right now.

If you can determine your FPS and get BC of the bullet, it's a lot easier to run data and determine a zero.

There's one in Ione/Sac out to ~500 and even 1K with certain circumstances. Decent place but too far for me to go every weekend. There's also one in Vacaville (?) that I've heard can go out to ~500

does barrel length play a part in BDC? I hate carbines and only shoot 20" AR platforms.. thanks. Also, it looks like for combat purposes the drop is near the same for all types of 5.56 up till ~300 yards.. and only the 55 grain drops off after that from the pack.

M193 55gr and M855 are about the same out to 600 yards and then M193 drops off. With 20" you will be able to establish higher velocities and actually be on further. If your rate of twist is 1:7-1:8 look at 75gr hndy.

I don't want to get too far off-topic, but I recently bought a set of these Vortex caps for my PA 4-14 ACSS and wasn't very impressed (with the Vortex caps that is; the scope is great). The caps feel flimsy. And while I like that they are designed to fold flat backwards when opened, in reality they tend to stop just past the vertical when popped open. Also, because they are rather flimsy, they don't readily snap shut all the way around unless you press on both sides (left & right) of the plastic cap. I have to wonder if these cheap caps are the same as what's provided on expensive Vortex scopes.

Also, because they are rather flimsy, they don't readily snap shut all the way around unless you press on both sides (left & right) of the plastic cap. I have to wonder if these cheap caps are the same as what's provided on expensive Vortex scopes.

I run Butler Creek seem good to go.
