Default Sport Chalet Closing

Just got an email that Sport Chalet is closing all of it's stores at the end of the month. It is the only reliable source that I have for filling 4500 psi air tanks for my pcp's. Does anybody have a source for air here in the eastbay that you use?
I'm sure that a number of people are going to be affected.

I had checked with 1 dive shop in Pacheco or Concord when I got into pcp about 1 year ago and they only did 3000 psi.

Sport Chalet in my area I was doing good to get an honest 3000 into my 3500 tanks.

Buy a new or used Shoebox air compressor, you will need a small compressor to feed the Shoebox (125 PSI max). Set to fill at 4500 PSI.
It's a little slow, but allows fills without leaving home and is super convenient. I also fill my neighbors tank. If you're just topping off it only takes about 20 minutes, if you're filling from near zero, it'll take about 3 hours, depending on the tank size of course.
They have a website and occasionally will have reconditioned that have been updated for a price break. I happened to luck out and get one of these. It's been great.
Highly recommend.

I get more money back on my REI dividend check than I do on any tax refund.

I was just about to buy a 75 cubic foot air tank but without Sport Chalet I might consider using that money for a Shoebox, I have the 90 c.i. 4500 psi air venturi bottle. What all do you need to buy besides a 125 psi craftsman type compressor? Air hose to the shoebox, air hose from the shoebox to the bottle. What fittings? Do you use a water filter? Anything else? Thanks

I have a low pressure filter from the Craftsman air compressor, but Joe Brancota recommends a high pressure side filter, that's on my list, but living in a very dry clime I can wait for that.
I have a quick connect hose from the 125 PSI to the Shoebox then a high pressure hose to the tank (it's the same hose that is used to fill the gun) from Joe: Air Tanks for Sale, bought all of my stuff from him as that is what he does and is very honest and easy to deal with. The fill whip also has a quick connect.
The Shoebox requires a little maintenance such as lubrication most every use, depends on how long I run it, but I lube it a lot. It uses silicon oil and white moly lube.
I have a guppy size tank that is easy to handle, it's in a small back pack, compact, light weight yet I can top off the gun about 8-10 times (230 bar)normally. I shoot 3 - 10 round magazines, then top off....that's a lotta shots!
Joe sells everything for air, also the Shoebox itself if you wish to go the new route.

Low pressure side is fine for particulates, you need to protect the compressor.
High pressure side you need the water separator/moisture filter to protect your tanks.

If you're near concord and a USI range member I've been told that Diablo Rod and Gun club has a compressor at the range for filling PCP's. I think you would only be able to use it during one of their airgun matches or range days. They are still shooting airguns there but are restricted to .177 and .22 cal airguns.

I wonder if sport chalet would sell their air set up to you, since they're closing.

REI is super expensive. Saw a fleece sweater for 297.99...in the cleance section, 40% off. It looked like one you ca get from Walmart for 9.99. That sweater better get me to Mt. Everest and back by levitation.

Anyway, sad that Chalet is closing, its where i get all my carabiners.

10% off is a joke @ that store. My wife and I went into SC and was blown BACK by the prices. No wonder they're going down.

agree - we went in and looked.

Everything set @ MSRP with a 10% discount. I am sure you can find better deals elsewhere.

What i found funny was the hordes of shoppers actually thinking they were getting a good deal. Line was huge!

Yep I saw old guys taking their shirts off to try t-shirts as if they were free. Didn't buy anything. 10% for a store closing sale is a joke.

The dive compressors are huge... and a huge cascade air storage system too

I recall one being 5-6' wide and at least 6' tall... I forget how deep

most dive shops can only fill to 3600 PSI
