Have you thought about coating the pusher blade with something like Plastidip? Just a thought.

I tried it and it "split" right off, thanks for the suggestion though.

I made a vid showing the tool in action. The camera isn't the best but you can clearly see how good and easy the tool works.

Enjoy!

Looks great...I've wondered why no one made something like this. PM sent for one for my variety of sight-adjustment needs!

Got mine yesterday and adjusted my sights in seconds. Works great. Paid less than what the smiths around here wanted to charge for shop rates. Im thinking of putting some mole skin on the slid clamp faces to protect the slide finish. Thoughts?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Mole skin would work, but for me it provides too much cushin that can let the slide move around when using the tool. Something thinner would be optimal in my opinion.

Yep, I tried small rubber pads that allowed the slide to twist a little.

I tried the cardboard idea and it works well.

Copy on the moleskin. I'm now thinking of replacing the aluminum with some left over Delrin I have laying around.

this looks great, saw something like it in the Midway flyer today . . . . . but they wanted $89 for it and it doesn't look as useful as yours.

Got mine and it looks great. Sure it's not as refined as the 'pro' models, but it's a heck of a lot more refined than pounding away with a hammer and punch! I'd recommend anyone grabbing one while you can before dafish comes to his senses and starts charging closer to what these are worth!

By the way, question to those who have used it on their XD...mine seems to wide for the dovetail...are you pushing against the blade of the sight (if you're pushing the front sight)?

I push the base, the blade should be a "tad" smaller in width then the dovetail
if you want to send me a pic of the slide in the tool I will send you another blade if you need one.

Thank you for the followup support! I sent some close-ups via PM to make sure it's not the 'nut behind the wheel' causing the issue. The more I play with the tool, the more I'm loving the design, layout, and setup.

You might want to reduce the height of the pusher by 1/16 as well. Had to do it to accomodate the P6 front sight.

Huh?! You have to take out the aluminum block?

Just kidding.

I used a piece of leather as pad to avoid marring the finish and the leather wrapped around from side to side. It added extra height to the slide and the thichness of the leather is 1/32".

The height is now 1.102".

Before you do any adjustment you might want to ask the other 2 members who used it on their Sig. The method I did was different from other members.

I think I'm interested in buying one - and I'm very interested in solving my problem! I didn't see confirmation of it actually working with a sig p226 - dafish, it would be helpful if you could post a known-good/bad cross-compatibility list. =)

My factory-new p226 (9mm) consistently shoots ~ 2" left @ 25' for this new pistol shooter - I'm rather surprised that it would come this way new, but I've tried other pistols and experimented with grip and stance and have come to the conclusion that it's not me. I'd love to be able to adjust sights at my leisure, and this tool seems much more universal than the pricey SIG equivalent. Anyone near the San Leandro range w/ a similar Sig is welcome to join me for some comparison... =) (please PM)

I could not budge my m&p sight and didn't want to hit it any harder. I was about to head over to Ironsights to have the smith take the sight off, but I stumbled into this, and it worked great. I plan on removing them again when I get the Warren's and am doing my buddies as well.
I did have do make an elaborate brace with clamps, as the removal (first time= locktite?) required a lot of force and kept torquing the slide in the jig. It was working as it, but I was afraid that the drift might hit the frame at that (slight) angle. I needed less force reinstalling, and no torque issues whatsoever. Worth every penny!

If you get a chance can you send me a picture of your clamping set up?

Would putting the tool in a vise help?

Sorry, the clamp monstrosity is gone. I clamped a piece of wood to the underside and sides for the exposed length of the slide, then clamped it all to the anvil end of the vice and I put the tool in the vice. The tool never moved, just the slide did until I rigged it up. I am not kidding when I say that it took a lot of might to get the sight to "pop" loose. I was worried that I was doing bad things to my slide and almost gave up, but like any red blooded American, I threw common sense to the wind and got a bigger wrench. I made sure everything was straight each little bit and there was no issue. Once it "popped" it was easy.
I didn't need any of that mess to put it back on.
I can do a reenactment this weekend and take some pics.

Looks like a very serviceable tool for a very fair price, well done sir!

I noticed some people were experimenting with material to pad the slide holding jaws; Brownells sells some adhesive backed polymer that might work when cut to fit: http://www.brownells.com/1/1/44452-v...16-clinic.html
