There is also the 1st Saturday of the month at Lincoln, they do a 3 Gun competition. Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun. That is a blast! 15$ entry , 5 $ lunch.

Default Let the fun begin!!

Ok guys, it looks like there is a lot of interest in this and that makes me smile like his guy --->

It looks like Lincoln & Sac Valley are the best options in the area.

I have been to Lincoln a few times because it is close to me and I have been very impressed with their safety and the range setup. I usually visit during the week if I can get away from the office and it has been great but I have seen it packed on the weekends. They are also closed a lot for special functions, take a look at their calendar on the new web site and you will see what they have to offer and get an idea of when they are available to the public.

Sac Foley shooting center looks like it has many options available, but I am almost ashamed to say that as a lifetime resident of the Sacramento area I have never been. I would love to see what they have to offer...

Who wants to go shoot at the Sac Valley this weekend? Sunday would be great, I have to work Saturday. I am an early bird usually, what time sounds good? They open at 8:00.

Are there any members that know the ropes or are we headed to the public areas? Public = 100, 300 yard rifle, 50 yard pistol, rimfire reactive, or trap. I would surf their web site for more information but its bed time.

Chime in and let me know what you think about shooting at Sac Valley, Sunday AM, Sept 30th. Lets have some fun!

PS...we will be representing Calguns, if you cant be safe and show proper etiquette it would be best if you did not participate. We are looking for everyone to go home with all their pieces & parts.

I just got to visit Spenceville a few weeks ago and it has been cleaned up a lot since the last time I was out there. I went out early and got a bench fairly easy. They have moved some dirt around and also did a controlled burn (it looks like it was controlled). And for a big bonus there was no little old lady running in between everyone grabbing all the brass.

It sounds like a good time out there but I really really want to see the Sac Valley setup. Looks like we will have 2 sets of folks representing Calguns this weekend!!

Ok all, it looks like most people either want to shoot some handguns or dont mind shooting some handguns. So...handguns it is.

I have never been to this range, is there a good meeting place?

I will get there @ 8 to see if we can get a group rate or if they would give us a small break because we are Calguns supporters. I might even do something wild and call before Sunday.

See you all soon!

Looks like a few people are going out Saturday also...lucky. We hope to see you Sunday, try and send me a message if you know you will make it soi can make sure we have enuf elbow room.

It looks like we should have a good group of CGers, remember to invite friends and family so we can spread our little disease and get more people involved with Calguns. Our little home away from home on the internet here has done some good things lately for our 2A rights and deserves as much support as we can give.

See you all soon!!

Hanguns is fine with me. We could meet up in the parking lot.

You have to go into the shooting area to get to the office on the handgun range and eyes and ears are required there, natch. Safety is wonderful, but it makes it hard to do introductions and chat a bit. So, does someone have a Calguns polo or a bright red truck?

IDEAS: last Sunday of the month for a regular monthly shoot works for me. Maybe we could do a poll to see where to go the next month? Use the mail list to see who wants to go on off-cycle shoots?

If I remember correctly (only been there once), I think that there is a picnic table on the grass between the middle of the parking lot and pond.

With a bit more lead time, a member could reserve a private range at SacValley.

On a private range, you can shoot either handguns or rifles...or both...not have to wait for the timed breaks in shooting, bring out drinks and food for a picnic/BBQ and a social gathering.

The big thing is that you wouldn't be subject to the regular crowds on the public side

Reservations would be nice and hopefully we can get a good spot for a monthly shoot once I talk with the staff. This is a last minute lets stop talking and do it kinda thing...

People will be arriving at different times so maybe the early birds can meet at the picnic table at 8:00 and we can inform the staff that Calguns has a group and they can point the others in the right direction?

I am working on getting a CG polo and other little swag items but I don't have them yet. If anyone else has a CG shirt it would probably be a good idea to wear it so we can be identified.

Post up plans for future get togethers. I'm out of town teaching this weekend, but would like to meet some of the local Calgunners.

SacValley has been accommodating in the past. We had a local Calguns women meet-n-shoot a while back, but they changed the rules about who uses the Action Bays

Meeting at the picnic table is a good idea. And telling the office folks where to look for us is good too. Latecomers like me will have to take their chances with getting a lane that's close....

Wanna apologize to the folks organizing the get togeather, not going to make it. As I already explained to Lazyme in pm, i've got spine surgery coming up, with the no sleep and excruciating pain, I really need to just keep myself at home.

Hoping to do a meet after surgery and recovery,
Schutz

All packed up with nowhere to go...
I decided to put all the handguns in the lockable transport vessel. This should be a fun day.

Got an AK to test fire also. This should be an amazing day!

I'm cleaning everything before I head out in a couple hours...

G17, G26, G30 and MP-25 done. Now for the 1911's.

See ya there. I'll probably bring my new 16" 6.8SPC upper and EOTech 517 to break them in.

How did the group meet go? Everyone have a good time??

How many people showed up? Curious if there was any difficulty accommodating a large group.

Remember that you have to attend their orientation for the Action Bays before you can use them

Ok, puppies are passed out and wife is watching Sex And The City.

It was fun meeting everyone and I had a great time! So far every person i have meet thru Calguns has been good people and I look forward to seeing more of you next month!! The Sac Valley Shooting Center is impressive and I had to sign up for a membership. I will definitely by going back at least once a month.

I think a few of us wanted to do the last Saturday of the month as a regular thing so Saturday October 27th is our next scheduled meet at the Sac Valley shooting center. Hope to see everyone out there again and I hope to meet even more of you as well.

I talked to Mike, he lives on the property and works 7 days a week on keeping this place up and running. He said the way we did it today is probably the best way to meet up for now. Saturdays usually get pretty crazy and Sundays are a little better but still a lot of people. I thought there was plenty of room today and when I got there at 8 there was almost nobody else there. Easy pickings on spots when the place looks abandoned.

9mmepiphany is correct, you do have to attend a safety orientation before using the action bays. I believe you have to have a certified NRA instructor with your team also, I need to review the rules one more time because I learned a lot of things talking to Mike and there are different rules depending on what you are doing and who you are doing it with. It would probably be a good idea if a few people took some training courses, I know I will be looking into it for myself because it definitely gives us more options.

What about the people who can't shoot on the scheduled date, or who want to shoot some place different? Let us know about it and we can we can all try and meet up! (Does anybody know how the Lincoln shoot went? I'll have to check on that thread here in a minute.) The point of these meetings is to spread the Calguns name and get more people logging on and signing up so the more the merrier!

If anyone else is interested in putting in some leg work on coordinating some events contact pennys dad and he can get you involved with the C3 group. C3 is doing good things to help us Californians keep our 2A rights so the least we can do for them is tell people about Calguns when we go out and shoot. I am waiting to find out about getting some Calguns swag and it looks like we can get banners made to cross promote Calguns and the facility hosting the event.

Wow...I typed way too much. It was a great time today and I hope we can shoot again soon!

It was good to meet more fellow CG'rs. I agree with Lazyme on the "good people" comment. Looking forward to more shoots!
