Hi all. Have read threads here as a non-member. Signed up to sell my g26 after hearing about it at the Pelican Parts forum. Great experience.

Default New old guy.

Quick hello. As a birthday present for my number 70 I'm planning on taking up target shooting. I'm looking forward to meeting new (and old) friends at the range. Now to go shopping for a nice rifle - it's been a while since my army days and the options are mind boggling <smile>.

Hi everyone. After toying with the idea on getting a firearm for a while, I finally decided to move forward. Waiting on a local shop to get some more Glock 19 in stock and I will be purchasing one of those. Looking forward to getting more active and learning on the forums.

Default New Guy from lower CA

Hello everyone, I'm joining up to traverse all of the complex laws in this golden state. I shoot IDPA matches a few times a year and have been around firearms most of my life.

Greetings fellow Patriots,

I'm a new member to this forum but not to CA. I lived in So Cal for most of my life before joining the USCG at which point I spent six years living in other "freer" states before moving back to CA about a year ago. I didn't realize just how bad CA gun laws were until I returned.

I always liked guns but didn't really get into them until I was in the USCG. My rating (MOS) is ME or Maritime Enforcement Specialist, the law enforcement arm of the USCG. I'm currently a reservist after spending four years on active duty. I'm also a cadet at the Maritime Academy in Vallejo.

I'm a FLETC graduate and a Maritime Law Enforcement Academy graduate along with a number of other certifications. My firearms training is extensive, but as we all know, it's a perishable skill.

I'm looking to join a shooting club near me (Fairfield). I'm interested in competing in USPSA/IDPA/IPSC matches to stay sharp. Suggestions are encouraged and welcomed.

My current firearms include a Glock 19 Gen 4 that I bought on the Blue Label program while stationed in WA and a Benelli Supernova.

Default Introduction!

Hi everyone, I am new to the site and new to shutting for that matter. I am a little overwhelm with all the regulations that involved this activity. A few years back I purchased a rifle but never fired it until a few weeks ago, and know I am very interested. Eventually I wan to purchase a hand gun, probably use but I found that there is a lot to it. Any way I want to send a big thanks to every one involved in running the site.

Default Happy Holidays

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Curtis and am new to the forum. I am a paramedic and music educator as well as a full time ministry student. I am not an avid collector or well versed in shooting but have been around firearms most of my life. I've had quite a few opportunities to go to the range with friends and have mostly shot glocks and 1911's. Now it's time to get my own gun before California and the rest of the country gets even worse with gun laws. Looking for Sig's in 40 or 357 (226 or 229, preferably off roster of possible) so if anyone has any tips on where to look besides here on the forums that info would be much appreciated. Again, Happy Holidays and thank you for acceptance into this e-gathering of 2nd amendment supporters!

Drum:

I do not know Santa Clarita very well but look for a gun store nearby that sells guns on consignment.

Turners has an online consignment list, but you have to stay on it frequently.

You can also put up a "Want To Buy" ad here in the Marketplace.

Welcome and good luck.

Hello, I am in Palm Spring area having just coming from Florida in motor coach. I am 63, looking to buy my first rifle, and hunting coyotes and prairie dogs. Not expecting that this area will be hunter or gun friendly area I want to explore shooting and hunting. I have been on several other forums learning about coyotes and joined here for the guidance I know I will find here.

I plan to get a .243 Ruger starter gun and a scope and I think that will be good for me. Have read a lot and look forward to doing what I have read ( and of course those you tube videos ) for the last year. I looked over the mountain last trip here and there is an area called Hemet which is more of a rancher area and horse country so I imagine myself somewhere like this. Any one knowing of nice country within 30 miles of Palm Springs please let me know.

Well a little background on me as I start a new journey.

Mikey

I'm another new member to the site. I was recommended by someone on one of the Harley forums.

I grew up in a hunting family and am very familiar shooting handguns and rifles. I've lived in SoCal for 20 years and have not owned a gun here. I grew up between Arkansas and Michigan and the law were/are a bit looser.

With all of the nonsense going on in the world and my own backyard my sister and I have decided we need some home defense and eventually CCW.

I'm looking at a 12 gauge shotgun for home and a handgun to eventually carry.

So, I'm here to learn as much as I can about the laws in California, and our options.

Hello all....
I joined about 6 weeks ago or there about. I figured it was about time I said "HELLO" and introduced myself.

Until about 2 months ago, I hadn't fired a gun in 30+ years. I went skeet shooting with my son and used his 870. I got about 15 or so out of 25 clay pigeons. Not quite as rusty as I thought, but at one time I would hat hit all 25. My son has been on this site for some time, so I decided to join.

I started shooting when I was about 10. I had a .22 rifle. I had joined the NRA as a junior member back then for about 6 - 8 years. I've shot .22 rifles, 12 gauge shot guns, Mauser K98 and a 30-06. Left California for a few years then moved back to SoCal about 35 years ago and found it was harder to find anyone to shoot with. As a kid I used to hunt rabbits across the 101 freeway from the San Jose Airport. No fields there any more. Can’t even show a .22 anywhere near an airport now a day. I sold my .22 Marlin and my Winchester 12 gauge. All I have now is my Mauser K98. My dad "confiscated" it from the Germans in 1944. He never fired it and it was never fired before he got it. I was the first one to fire it some 35+ years ago. About once a year I take it out, clean it - oil it, then put it away.

Well, that’s about all, catch you all around here.
Have a very Merry Christmas and stay safe!

Hi Calgunners,

I've been lurking this site for a few months and decided to register a few days ago. This site has been a great source of information for a beginner such as myself.

This year I decided to take the plunge and learn more about firearms. I took classes on handgun and shotgun safety, tested out a few handguns, and I'm probably going to buy a 9mm CZ (still deciding which model, leaning towards cz75sa)

I'm most interested in recreation and personal/home defense. I plan on buying a shotgun in the near future and hopefully more pistols and eventually ARs. If I shoot well enough I'd love to branch out into hunting and competing.

Happy Holidays and I'm glad this community exists!

Default Hello from El Dorado County

Hi everyone,
I am new to the site and new to firearms. I had my first experience in shooting a few different types of guns and rifles in Vegas in the summer.

I have my FSC. Planning to take a few classes in the next few weeks or months. I am very happy to have found this site because site has so many great information and everyone here is so friendly and helpful too.

I look forward to learning from every one of you.

Not exactly "new" here, but stopped visiting more than 3 years ago after being blasted for daring to have worked in CA law enforcement and admitting to same. If that sort of background is a problem for general membership, please advise and I'll go elsewhere. FWIW, I've been retired for over 10 years and remain the same firearms hobbyist/enthusiast I was long before becoming a LEO. I've held a CA hunting license since 1965, reload 30+ calibers/4 shotshell gauges, and cast bullets for all of them. I hope to be able to add to the enjoyment of firearms by participating here, and have some unique experiences that might be of interest generally.

We'll see how things go.

Welcome all.

Gunny and JD: Hi!

CZ93:
Most here are pro-LEO, but antis present as well.
It gets vocal at times.
I don't see being LEO as a problem here, we have a section on LEO for Q&A.
The problems occur most when people get too heated one way or another on a controversy.
Welcome.

Hello to all. New to the forum, have been shooting for about 5 years and really enjoy it. Mostly shoot handgun but am also working on my rifle skills. Although I no longer live in CA, used to live up in the Bay area, I have many friends who still live out there.

Hello Folks.

Been a long time lurker - finally created an ID to post some questions about hog hunting in Cali. I'm in the South Bay of the LA area and always looking for shooting buddies - I left all of mine behind in Texas.

Thanks!

Default New Member Saying, 'Hi'!

Hello Calguns,

I'm new to your board, but not new to guns or gun boards. You can find me under the same moniker at NevadaShooters.com as well.

I still have family in SoCal. I moved way to Vegas about 20 years ago. Still in Vegas.

Some of my Ca. family members are gun owners and not clear on the laws etc., so in addition to the Ca. Gubmint websites, thought I'd register here to read up on more info with regard to Ca. and firearms ownership to help keep my Ca. family members in line.

As I have questions, I'll be sure to post them in the appropriate forum threads.

Thanks,

Sean
