You seem to be able to see that far just fine when shooting prone??? EVERYONE sucks at offhand. Some less than others. |

Hey Frank, how preposterous would it be if I went to the Chabot match with that Garand, having never shot it before, and having never shot at silhouttes before, and only having 60 rounds of ammo (that you gave me!).
So basically I'd show up with a perplexed look on my face, a rifle, a box of ammo and no idea of how to even properly load the thing (though armed with 15 years of ingrained gun safety of course!) Oh, and the only rifle I've shot in the past year is a .22. And I have bad eyesight. But I have $8 entry fee. I also have a scoped AR-15 that I've also never shot before ever. So...see you guys Sunday? |

It helps me see further prone. In my case I suck at offhand more than others.

I showed up willy nilly my first time with my Garand. Frank helped me out and I did alright.
You'll be fine with your M-1.

OK, done!
Great fun was had. I managed to hit I think 4 out of 40 targets. Maybe 5 I can't recall. Using the AR-15 and the Garand. I found out that using a scope off hand is not very easy and the Garand was much easier with the irons than than the scoped AR! Thanks to 6mmintl for sighting both rifles in for me in like 2 minutes, thanks to Tim for coaching me! Nice meeting your rojocorsa, see you next month? I think considering that I'd never fired either rifle before, and having not shot any rifles except my Marlin 795 in the last 12 years or so I did pretty good. It also reminds me to actually shoot the rifles rather than just accumulating them! |

You did well. First time out, I nailed 6/40 with my M-1.
I screwed the pooch yesterday and did 4/40 total. I notice that I make it hard on myself because I always bring things that aren't as easy to shoot. I'll just bring the AR from now on, so I can hit things and feel good about myself.

I like the challenge of shooting the other stuff as well.
