Default CGSSA Event - Burro Canyon Monthly Shoot "Shoot'n'Que" Saturday, Dec. 31st STICKYPLS

Azusa - CGSSA/Calguns Monthly Shoot'n'Que at Burro Canyon

Date: Saturday, December 31st, 2016
Start Time: 9:00 AM; End Time: 4:00 PM
Range Fee: $25.00. Pay and sign-in at the Burro Canyon Office. Burro Canyon members are free. Tell the office that you are with the Calguns group on range East 1B.
Range: Range East 1B, approximately 140 yards in length.
Please respond to this thread (post) if you will be coming to this monthly shoot.

We are hosting a general shooting line with a potluck barbecue for lunch. Bring food and drinks to share for the potluck. Participation in the potluck is not mandatory but is encouraged. If you wish to partake of the potluck but do not bring any food or drink then please donate some funds to the "donation jar".

Between 9:00 and 10:00 AM you should sign-in and pay at the Burro office, drive to East 1B, pick your spot on the firing line, unpack, and set up any canopy, table, chairs, and targets. Once you have done that you may wish to socialize with your fellow shooters. We are a friendly group!

Eye protection, hearing protection, and water are essential for each attendee. Sun block and a hat are recommended.

Safety Briefing is scheduled nominally for 10:00 AM. Firearms should be kept in your vehicle, or in their carrying case on your line shooting position, or you can unpack them provided you have a cognizant RSO verify that they are unloaded. The range is "COLD" until it is called "HOT" after the Safety Briefing. All firearms should be unloaded and clear, with actions open (if unpacked), until such time. The range will go HOT and shooting shall begin shortly after the Safety Briefing. Line breaks for target change will be about every 30 minutes. The range will go COLD around midday for lunch. The range will go HOT again at the conclusion of lunch. The final ceasefire will be called at 3:30 PM. Teardown and clean-up will begin then and the event will end no later than 4:00 PM.

We have only the right side of the range this year (East 1B), so attendance is nominally limited to 30 shooters. If you sign-up then please attend. No tentative sign-ups accepted. You may not have a spot on the line if you are not on the Attendees list by 9:00 PM Friday night (the night before). The thread will likely be closed when the 30 shooters level is reached.

AVAILABILITY OF THE RESIDENT CGSSA BARBECUE IS SUBJECT TO BEING ABLE TO GET IT TRANSPORTED TO EAST 1B.
If you would like, bring your propane BBQ's to share. Wood and Charcoal grills are NOT allowed.

RSO (Range Safety Officer) volunteers are always needed for this event. Please post a response to this thread or send a PM (private message) to me (RFBIII) if you can volunteer in this capacity. Thanks in advance.

Permanent RSO volunteer until further notice: RFBIII

Below are some information URL's about BCSP

Take your ammunition to the range office to be checked when you pay and sign-in. Ammunition is supposed to be checked at the office at this time. At East 1B the range staff and the event staff reserve the right to check all ammunition with magnets.

No alcohol or drugs are allowed at Burro Canyon or at this event. Violators will be asked to leave.

Location Details:
Burro Canyon Shooting Park

Azusa, CA 91702
Burro Office telephone - (626) 910-1344

CGSSA shoots and other events are pre-scheduled this year so check the monthly schedule dates @ http://cgssa.org/events/. This is a very full calendar. For this event look to the last Saturday in the month.

LET'S HAVE A SAFE AND SUPER FUN EVENT!!

I'll be there if it's not too cold. I will lend a hand with the RSO duties, if needed.

Default Myself and one other are interested

However it looks like 40% rain that day. Is there any covering at East 1B?

Good point about the 'training opportunity'. Many folks these days avoid the elements and miss the chance to run and gauge their system/s performance in those elements.

I'm giving it serious consideration. I have two small kids so it's tough but yeah I want to try to make it happen. I'll bring the best damn carnitas you ever had from a place here in Santa Ana. Put me down plus one.

tylerhen, forecasts change, but my Weather Channel forecast shows last rain this December on the 27th. Please let us know if you can make it to the Shoot!

Yeah the 29th is a ways out for a forcast. I don't have an easy-up, so although I don't mind shooting in the rain, I don't want to stand around in it all day

If that doesn't turn out to be a problem, we are definitely in!

I've never been to this range and when I look at their map I don't see 1B East. There's a small range labeled 1B near the office and one labeled East 1 that is past the long range. I assume it's that one. Looks like 140 yards. How close can we park to the range we use?

And are you keeping a checklist for food to bring? Let me know what is needed. Thanks!

If someone pulls the CGSSA trailer to the range you are certainly welcome to borrow a canopy for the duration of the event.

If you look to the lower right on this satellite photgraph you'll see "East 1". This is an older photo and East 1 has had a center berm created to divide it into "East 1A" and "East 1B". We are on 1B and, yes, it is one of the longer ranges available at Burro.

You park immediately adjacent to where you shoot so your vehicle will probably be a whole 20-30 feet away from you!

See the second posting by me called "Attendees" for a callout of food/drink that someone has declared to be bringing.

I am adding you to the attendees. Please advise if you are bringing additional people or food and/or drink.

Default RAIN!!

Likelihood of rain seems to be running 60-70%. Unless most of you who have previously said that you're coming insist that you are still coming this Saturday it would seem to be prudent to cancel this Saturday's SNQ.

Also, we are not going to physically have a barbecue to cook upon unless someone brings one since the CGSSA barbecue is in process of being replaced.

Please let me know your desires on going ahead or canceling. If the shoot is a "GO" then I can bring cold cuts instead of meat that has to be cooked.

PLEASE RESPOND.

I'm kind of in a bad spot now and am doubtful I will be able to make it. Some drunk plowed into my truck last weekend and it's still at the shop. I don't think it's going to be ready in time and I can't fit all my stuff in my friend's car. I'm pissed.

jarhead714, very sorry to hear that! It's trite to say, but on the plus side it sounds like you were not injured, just your vehicle.

If you don't make it then perhaps we'll see you January 28th at the next Shoot'n'Que.

Best wishes for a better 2017.

he might need one once he reaches the range... heh

the entire range is just hard packed dirt, so if it gets wet enough, the dirt roads inside the range might turn into a mud-fest.

but don't worry, there will be tons of 4x4s and trucks at the range to help push/pull if you actually get stuck.

Ok, other Jeremy here checking in. Provided I am not too jet lagged for my alarm to wake me im planning on leaving south OC at 7 ( unless gf holds me up).

Jarhead, if you really want to go, I can make space in my truck, provided it starts in the AM. If you see this and are interested, shoot me a text asap (949) - three 1 five - 5876.
