Default What powder do Black Hill Ammunition reload with?

Particularly with their Mk262 Mod1 rounds?

And is there a published data as to what gr/charges they use etc?

Ammunition manufacturers consider such information "trade secrets" and will not even divulge who makes their powders.

Powder manufacturers will tailor make unique powders for ammunition manufacturers that order in LARGE quantities.
Manufacturers do not use cannister grade powders (powders we can buy off the shelf in 1-8lb cannisters). These powders are formulated to produce the best combination of accuracy, velocity and safe chamber pressures.

That said, I've heard Ramshot TAC produces good results with 77 gr BTHP .224 projectiles from Sierra and Nosler.

I too am looking into high end military ammo recipes and I found this study which is pretty neat.

Ted, you pretty much nailed it with the reference to TAC. Black Hills is reportedly using a proprietary version of TAC in their 77 grain ammo.

The only complaint I've read about TAC is that it's not the cleanest burning powder. I do remember my barrel and BCG being pretty funky after putting 100 rounds of BH blue box ammo through it, but that's what gun cleaners are for.

You *should* be able to duplicate MK262 velocity within NATO safe pressures with Varget or RL15 (and maybe even N140/N540).
