Default Need a sponsor for Diablo Rod & Gun Club

I'm looking to join the Diablo Rod & Gun Club at USI and am looking for someone to sponsor me. If any current members are willing I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, Pat

You don't need a sponsor to join DAP.

Just show up at the beginning of their meeting. Stay for the whole meeting. You're GTG. I became a member that way last year.

Is NRA membership a requirement at DAP? I'm also interested in joining, and also thought a sponsor was necessary. Could be confusing them with one of the other four or so clubs associated with USI though.

Also, you go for one meeting? What about future obligations to meetings and such? I work too much

Also, I saw something about a 200 yd shoot on the 24th, is this the same thing? And, is it open to club members only, or the public? (the 200 specifically if there are two events).

NRA not required but you get a $5 break. No future obligations but the DAP annual BBQ is worth attending.

The 200yd metallic match is on the same day and no it is not the same thing. Not sure if open to the public.

DAP = Diablo Action Pistol

Diablo Rod and Gun you need a sponsor if you are applying online.

There's a lot going on this weekend....

Saturday is Member's Open Day at the 200yd Multi-Purpose Range for all Diablo Rod and Gun Club members and guests, 9am to the afternoon.

Sunday morning is the Diablo High Power Silhouette match from 9 to 12.
Sunday afternoon is the Diablo Benchrest Match from 1pm to 3pm (I'm the Benchrest chairman)

Both matches are open to the public but you must complete the 5 minute Safety Brief at the Public Range Office and obtain your Purple Card to confirm completion, so get there a little early.

So, I've never shot in any competition. how intimidating is this going to be for a first timer? I'm interested in the 200yd comp, but have never even practiced at that range. Im pretty concerned about going out and making a fool of myself by whiffing all my shots. Generally I do fairly respectable at 100yds, but who knows what happens at 200yd.

Are there any preparation tips you can provide? Sighting in tips, etc? Sorry to be so unsure, this is something I definitely want to get into seriously, but dont want to embarrass myself either.
