Just a deer point and D6 for deer. The D6 area is very close to me so I can go up for a day or 1/2 day if needed. Put in for a Pronghorn Likely Tables zone. May get a bear tag if I am able to do much hunting. My dads condition or death will determine that.

I did put in for Wy Pronghorn area 96--Anything tag and 2 doe/fawn tags also.

If you want to meet up and go for a night or two in D6, I own a mountain home in Long Barn. Hunted all over the area from Kennedy Meadows, Clavey River, hwy108-hwy4, to the Dardenales, but never saw better than a doe or two. A few good bucks were taken after the Yosemite fire, but I never saw them.My guess is most come from the 4000 elevations around Soulsbeville. At least that's where I see them every week I go to the hills. Anyway, just an offer of company and a place to stay. I won't be hunting, as I now only hunt Wyoming for deer and antelope and they don't leave any room in the freezers.

One preference point for deer in the hope I can draw close to home, one OTC tag for D3-5, and either a pronghorn tag for somewhere up north or a preference point.

Three of us will be doing the deer hunt, including a friend of my wife's who used to be on the Stanford rifle team a long while ago but has never hunted, and a young whippersnapper who grew up in Idaho and will teach the old folks a lot.

I have three but my partner only has one. We will likely save points this year, apply for G37 and end up in D6.

A few more points will get us into a better zone. I'd rather hunt a mediocre zone every few years than waste my youth hoping for a once in a lifetime draw.

95% of D6 tags end up in soup. Some zones only needing 3 points are 30-40% success, which is a huge jump from 5.

I put in for 5 deer and all the pigs, yotes and cats I can shoot. Oh wait that's a gimme. Yeah I know it's not California but it's still hunting.

I put in for a NV elk tag. I’ll buy a D15 tag as I have found a water source and food plot. 3% success rate means I’ll likely enjoy the hike and time in nature. If the elk hunt comes through the freezer will be full. I also entered everyone up in henderson for the elk for better chances of being drawn. It’s been 5 years and still nothing... 6th Times a charm, fingers crossed.

i am part of a group, we applied for x zones, we each have 4points.....so i'll most likely end up in d3-5.

i also get a bear tag every year, in years past i have used it to keep a rifle on me after i get a deer, so i am no breaking the law by being armed and not having a tag. but i have never taken a bear, i am hoping to get one also.

ace up my sleeve is my son is 11, turns 12 in Feb......he is hooked on bird hunting and excited for big game, i can enter him into the big game junior hunts......stoked!

good luck to everyone

We should just have the title changed to 2018 Big Game Draws and Tags.

I'm putting in for AZ Whitetails in 34A and 23. My 10yo is putting in for any anterless in 12A west and any Anterled in 23 as well and the areas around Perscott.

No tag for me on Elk or Antelope this year, so I got a point each there.

X8 with 4 points
Grizzly Island Elk with 5
Lassen Pronghorn with 3

Hope to get X8 and a bear tag. I know the rest is lottery odds.

This will be my first year, and I have zero points. I will be putting in for a G13 antlerless tag, and either a D15 or D16 OTC tag. I'm going to start building points by putting in for one of the Grizzly Island Elk tags. I'm not even going to bother with antelope as I will never accumulate enough points to ever get a tag; I will most likely eventually schedule an out of state hunt for both elk and antelope.

Me and the GF are putting in for X4. I drew last year, and she has no points so we won't get it. The in-person part of my son's hunter-ed class is June 3 and the deadline to enter the drawing is June 2nd. Bummed he won't get a point.

D6 & D7 are deer free zones on the public land scene. You can thank the certain "refugees" the state imports, puts them on welfare, then lets them run rampant. They pretend not to speak the language when confronted while poaching.

C-Zone Deer (zero points)
Grizzly Island Elk (max points less one)
Big Valley Zone 5 Antelope (max points less one)
Sheep (does it really matter)

I had a dream the other night that I drew CA elk, sheep and antelope. I then realized that it was a nightmare, not a dream!

Only have deer one point. So, I will be staying home hunting A-zone.

Put in for Hunter Liggett archery elk (8 points) and Likely Tables archery antelope (6 points) in hopes that lightning might strike.

I have 11 pp for deer...usually do the G37, then D6 for private land.

Kids are gone so I'm not into it much anymore.

Wish I could figure out an easy way to post pics I've go lots of deer, hog and game cam pics, including my son's G37 buck.

I’m probably going to sit out this fall season, just have too many family obligations going on. So it’s all BP’s for me.

If you want a year off and don't want that D6 private land to go to waste, hit me up!

Wish I could; at one time I had almost 20K acres of private land in three counties for hogs and deer...but a lot has been sold...

The other reason is liability, everyone has rescinded my ability to take anyone other than family anymore. Their insurance companies have told them actually not to let anyone go hunting.

My sons were blessed with "lifetime" permission and keys to one place as their high school graduation gift from their God father.

Having to pass on my late season hunt that I've managed to draw the last 2 years. The poison oak is thick and my reactions have gotten worse. Spending 4-5 days down there is amazing but the next few months of recovery is always difficult. Going to take a year off from that place & see if I can try it again in 2019. Too bad. I've never been so close to a shot with my bow as I got last year. Saw lots of deer and found the main bedding areas on my last day. So close...

So I picked up a D-zone tag instead of the AO + drawing tags I've had for the last couple years. I might take the rifle out during the general season. Or, if I'm lucky during the archery season, pick up a second AO tag & try for another.

Now I just need to decide if I'm going to spend my 10-15 days of deer hunting all in that spot or call my buddy out of state and do something with him.

I'm burning 8 points on X3A this year.

I just want to get back to getting a C tag every year. For 5 years I got a C tag as my second choice. Not so the last two years. Last year my wife shot a nice 26" 3X3 1n the C zone. There was a 24" 4X4 standing next to him and I had to let him walk.

Any information on X3A would be appreciated.

I have 3 preference points for deer.
Put in for X7A, X6B, and will in all likelihood stumble through D3-5.

You do understand that by putting in for X7A as a first choice that your odds of drawing another X zone, if you didn't draw the first x zone is 0.0 (zero point zero).

I did not know that. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll have to come up with a different strategy for next year.

I change my 1st choice to X2. It took 7 points to get that last year and I have 8. 65% success rate with about 70% 4 & 5 points.

Kinda miss hunting here in Ca. Just getting too damn many restrictions[non-lead], too early seasons for the most part. My last deer was taken in Bodie[x12] in 2012. Last year I hunted here, other than upland birds. Good luck to you guys.
