Default Here at Klamath refuge for opening

Of ditch chickens.

Wish me luck.

Few friends. Each with dogs. Got my 11-1/2 year old Munsterlander since Harleyís hips took a sheet. Warranty puppy (Bodie) is too young.

Did you ever see any birds where I pointed out on those maps from a few years back?

Pew. Checked it out that year and wasn't impressed with the cover. But the cover changes. Both mornings this year hunting what was wheat the last 2 years... this year heavy fallow. Been warm, super dry with no breeze. Not good for scenting birds. Cover and hunting has been tough. I only have 1 bird and lost one this morning in thick stuff. High in our group is 3 and he and his dog are pheasant machines. My dog is 80 in dog years. He knows what he’s doing but the cover roughs him (and me) up.

Sticking with it though. Could triple my score in the right 15 minutes.

Finally connected with a 3 bird limit last night. Had observed where a bunch of birds were flying back into a field as the sun set. Staged myself with a little cover in the flyway and pass shot my 3 in 45 minutes. Not the rush of a flush but conditions have been poor and dog and I are kinda beat up. Iíll take it.

That's great. How's Pappy Ganders? I haven't eaten there in 3 years now and possibly never will again since we lost our lease and I sold my club membership.

We stay at the RV park and cook our own grub. Jager got his own steak last night as the rest of the crew bailed. Did have dinner at my BFF in Klamath one night.

For 80 ( in dog years) heís doing well. Lotta heart. Could use more conditioning but thatís my fault and being a city dog. He lasts a few hours more or less depending on cover but always wants to go.
