Question Question about NRA Instructor

I took a Utah CCW class from an Utah/NRA instructor, Paid $150.00 in cash.
I got a blue card with his stamp on it.
Sent in the card and got my Utah CCW no problem.
I then found out that I could get the Florida CCW also with the same class.
I wrote to ask for a certificate showing I passed the class.
I also asked for another blue card stamped to send to Florida for the CCW.
I need the Certificate for AZ CCW.
I’m getting no replies to my emails or phone calls from this guy.
Is there anything I can do at this point?

Does the fact that I have my Utah CCW prove that I completed the training class and will any other state take this as proof?

Generally you can send a copy of the Utah CCW permit to show the course training. At worst you can email the Florida department of agriculture and ask if they will accept that as proof of training.

If you got a card stating you took and passed an NRA course (basic pistol I assume) the instructor had to register that class and students with the NRA. I don't know, but perhaps contact the NRA and see if they can issue a duplicate certificate since the instructor is AWOL.

Its my understanding that Florida needs shooting as being part of your course work for their State.
The Utah permit would not be proof of having attended a course of shooting as that is not needed for that State. Not to say it may not work.
Contact Florida and tell them of your situation and see what they need.

Lame, keep calling him I say. If it was an NRA course then call the NRA, but not sure what they will do since it probably was not an NRA course.

The course was:

Course: 4 hour Non-resident Concealed Weapons (CCW) class for Utah.

I was told this:

No.... Florida does NOT require Live Fire....

"Completion of any firearms safety or training course or class available to the general public offered by a law enforcement, junior college, college, or private or public institution or organization or firearms training school, utilizing instructors certified by the National Rifle Association, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, or the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services;"

I have confirmed this with the Florida Department of Agriculture.

UPDATE:
Until I get confirmation from the state of Florida, I am suspending the issuance of the Florida training certificate.

Currently, I have a call in to the Department of Agriculture, and I was told once again, the Utah training was adequate and all that was needed was demonstration of safe handling, this is a part of the Utah curriculum. When I read back the specific verbiage of the statute, citing discharge was needed, I was referred to a specialists voice mail. I have not received a definitive answer as of yet. In the interest of keeping within the law, until I get clarification, once again, I will not be issuing Florida certificates.

Thank You...

Additionally, an additional certificate must be sent in with the Florida application packet. A copy of the Utah CCW will not suffice, this is also confirmed by:
Amanda Herring, Public Inquiry Supervisor
Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services

I'm sorry your having trouble, however, if your Utah instructor didn't offer a Florida certificate of training with his class, there is not much you can do.

BUT: the good news is: Arizona WILL accept a copy of your Utah permit as training, here is email correspondence between myself and the Arizona DPS CCW unit:

My Email: Will a copy of my Utah concealed carry permit be adequate for prof of training under: ARS § 13-3112(N)(7)

Response: You can apply with your Utah permit as proof of firearms training.

MRCCW,
Thank you for all the info, plus the phone call. You have been very helpful on this matter. It just sucks (Can I say that on this Board?) that I now have to spend another $150.00 to get my FL CCW.
I did have a Hunter Safety course, but have lost that cert also. It was many years ago and it can not be replaced.

Well live and learn.

It sounds like the instructor is an NRA instructor but you did not attend an NRA course. As such the NRA has nothing to do with the course you took.

I never said it was a NRA course or that the NRA had any thing to do with this issue.

The requirement is to be utilizing instructors certified by the National Rifle Association.

Which is what he is.
