Default Carbine for training course?

I am planning to take a two-day beginner carbine training course later this year and I am curious to know opinions: would you bring a nice light rifle with a red dot or one with a variable optic, but on a heavier gun? Maybe both?
I'm not sure at this point what sort of distance we would be working with. It is an outdoor course.
Thanks!

Any reliable rifle with a reliable optic will be your best bet. Bring a back up rifle just in case.

95% of the shooting courses I took were in a 50 yard bay, if that tells you anything.

Bring both rifles with you. I would have the lighter rifle with red dot as your primary and the variable optic on the heavier rifle as a back-up.

Which training company are you going to attend?

Default Good advice

Always have a backup weapon for your class, sucks to spend the time and effort and money and have a equipment malfunction stop your day. I would also suggest the lighter weapon with the red dot. I have found most classes were within 50 yards unless stated otherwise in the description.

Bring whatever it is that you're "training" for. I don't understand buying or setting up something different just for a training class. Kind of counter-productive, no?
