Default Ride along attire.

I have a ride along tomorrow with chp. I have never ridden with any police agency only fire, I was an explorer so naturaully I wore my uniform. I don't know how to dress. I came in with slacks and a tie to request one, an officer suggested jeans and a polo.

I don't want to seem like I don't care and come underdressed, what is usually appropriate? Dark blue slacks and boots acceptable with a polo?

Thanks

Bring a jacket or a sweatshirt to wear over the vest they give you. But otherwise slacks and polo sounds fine.

I did a ride along with chp and I wore khakis long sleeve button up with a tie. I was complemented on my attire. So I would go with that. In my opinion with law enforcement you can't be over dressed. Professional at all times.

If it were me, I wouldn't mind a polo and chinos. It can't hurt to dress to impress though. Wear a tie. It's all about impression.

Are you applying or are you doing it for fun?

Either way, it doesn't hurt to look clean and presentable because they can turn you away if they don't think you are appropriately dressed.

So... get yourself a set of khaki pants, khaki short sleeve shirt, CHP hat, turquoise tie, and some captain's bars on the collars, and you'll be set.

Jeans and polo as suggested, tick it in and wear a belt. No tie.

Eh? I didn't get a vest, went with the shirt tie. Figured overdressing the worst can happen is I ruin a set of slacks. Learned quite a bit, hopefully some talking points for the oral panel.

That would be too much if you went with heels, I think flats are fine.

5.11 tactical molle vest without t shirt and 5.11 tactical BDU pants. Don't forget to wear your 5.11 tactical boots.

If you're going with the tac vest and boots, you gotta wear the 5.11 tac shorts instead of the pants and don't forget the knee pads with shorts.

I still don't think tactical is the way to go... too wannabe. I mean, like you are really going to be all SWAT team just because you had a ride-along?

You really should dress more conservatively, so I still think you should go to the local uniform store, buy the same uniform as that department, navy or tan/green or silver tan, whatever. Then put on captain's bars or 3 stars for deputy chief on the collar. Shows you are ambitious but not too overly presumptuous that you are wearing 4 stars.
