Default Is My SAR 8 Legit?

Hi Gunners,

I've been thinking about an SAR 8/PTR91 clone with a fixed 5 round mag (CETME). Mag cannot be removed without removing the trigger group first.

Can it have all the evil features?

Thanks, PAX

SAR 48 is a named assault weapon.
Fixed mag won't make it legal.
SAR 8 is not a named assault weapon.
As long as it's not a NAMED assault weapon, fixing the mag and keeping it over 30" long in it's shortest fireable configuration lets you have the rest of the features.

These things are really not worth mag locking considering the disassembly required, and that just a grip wrap and raw muzzle is enough. (ptr91)

Lol, just a wee bit difference between what he is referring to SAR 8 (HK91/G3 clone) and the SAR 48 (FAL). Why muddy the waters bringing up the 48?

Featureless is the best way to go, fixed mag is useless on these.

Thanks fellas, it's a hanger queen and never sees the light of day. I just was curious. Very accurate though with a fixed 4X and bipod. PAX

seems legit as described. you still have time to go featureless but once you spend money maglocking it the question of whether you should quit will arise. At what point does it become too legit, thus preventing any option to quit?

Ptr also makes 10 round magazines. Also when lookimg for an sar8, get the stamped steel receiver. NOT the cast aluminum dc industries receiver with the integrated scope mount. The stamped steel ones were made in greece on hk tooling under hk contract. It is the closest thing to an hk as one can get. The al receiver was an abomination and should be hurled into the closest smelting pot. The trunnion is simply pinned in and known to stretch, the receiver would get warm and the al would expand to the point you could pull the charging handle without motoring. They would make a fine man hole cover...

And simply make it featureless.
Kevin
