Default Mag body repair of 10 round magazine

Given the partially unclear nature of PC 32311...

Would it be legal to import just the magazine body to repair an existing ten round magazine? If it is grey, what steps should a buyer take to CYA?

In my case, I have some 10 round .458SOCOM magazines that are dented and do not function correctly. The rub: they use the same bodies as a standard AR15 30 round 5.56x45 magazine.

This would go for some other edge cases as well, such as repairing a 10/20 or 10/30 magazine.

If they are pinned or dented to prevent more than 10 rounds feeding I don't think there would be an issue?

.458SOCOM magazine don't dent to limit to 10 rounds-- they just won't fit more than 10 rounds due to the size of the round. (Maybe 11 with the right combo of mag and dedicated .458 follower)

That they'll take a 5.56 follower and also hold 30 rounds of 5.56...

But if the magazine is legal to buy, then the body is just a "part". You can order magazine parts in CA.

Ok, so where can you order individual mag bodies? Brownells used to, but has discontinued the plain mag body p/n.

Followers, floorplates, springs, all no problem. But the mag body itself? It seems most shops local to the south SFBA aren't willing to sell just magazine bodies, and claim its illegal per PC 32311.

You would probably have to check places like Lee's Mags. But mag bodies are pretty much the cost of an entire mag, might as well just buy a new .458 SOCOM 10 round magazine.
