First of lets start by saying I am a total newb when it comes to red-dots. I have been more concentrated in building OLL rifles, than woring about the sights. All my other rifles use iron sights, like I am going to attach a red-dot to my M-1 Garand.
LOL
Anyways, here is my situation. I got a red-dot a while back just like this one

The ring base was a little short, so I got some higher rings. While looking into the scope, are you suppose to line up the red dot with the front sight? When I move my head around, the red dot moves also while the gun is stationary. Does the red dot act kind of like your rear sights? I have taken this rifle out once, and it was kind of a pain to shoot with. At 100 yards, I had to keep the front sight pointed in the right direction, and with the red dot, aim approximately about 2mm above the front sight for me to get close to my target. I am so use to iron sights that I can shoot faster and more accurate with open sights. Are the real acogs and eotechs like this too, where you move your head and the red dot moves also?
I am planing to purchase an eotech after finishing my Fal, G3, Ar-10, my second AR-15, and lets not forget I really want a 1919. As you can see my funds are a bit short right now.
Thanks,
