He got banned for actions in this thread a while back....But I think louscamaro91 is referring to the scout scope, plastic stock, and brake on the M1.

Default Garand

Hey guys,

No offense taken. The Garand is really rediculous.

I have an amazing ability to waste money on firearms and I wanted to see what I could do with my Garand at one point in my life. It's now back in it's wood furniture and the brake, scope, and mount are no more. It was fun while it lasted. My trips to the range were always interesting with that rifle...

Hmm....the reason I wouldn't define a Barrett M82 a precision rifle is the same reason I wouldn't define a stock M1A a precision rifle: they shoot 1.5MOA at best.

Why would anyone call the accuracy of a standard stock Springfield Armory, Inc. M1A precision?

I don't know about stock M1As, but the acceptance criteria was a maximum of 1.5 MOA with a resulting average of 0.89 MOA for the first 5,000 TACOM M14EBR-RI rifles built. These are stock M14s with standard chrome lined USGI barrels.

Also, I have read about some all Winchester M14s used to build TACOM M14EBR-RI rifles shooting as tight as .44" ... all they did was put the action in a SAGE EBR stock.

It's a Crazy Horse M14 SASS custom built by Smith Enterprise, Inc. on a forged heel stamped Poly Tech receiver with TRW and SEI parts.
Similar rifles have recorded sub MOA accuracy at 1000 yards with M118LR, but they were in non-bedded USGI synthetic stocks.

The $1150.00 stock is a SAGE M14ALCS/PMRI performance match EBR and it comes with the Magpul PRS2.

Wow, so if thats the stock, how much do you have into the whole setup not including optics?

It's hard to say what I have in it because it was built with parts acquired over the years at prices below current market
and some items were traded for, that said - I could not have one built from scratch right now for less than about $6K.
The scope, mount, rings and sound suppressor are an additional investment.

TGI built FPK, all matching serial numbers. Simonov 400 meter POSP x4 scope. It shoots 1.5moa again not a precision rifle but a "sniper" rifle none the less.

Hell even a precision rifle in the wrong hands, mine, isn't a precision rifle

Very nice..though any COMBLOC design with Western accessories always throws me off a bit. Hanging out with Polish forces downrange will do that...

It's the precision of a rifle that designates it as a sniper rifle. The term 'sniper rifle' is an actual grade of rifle. In order for a rifle to qualify as a sniper grade rifle, it has to be able to achieve 1 MOA or less. Just putting a scope on a rifle and using it in a tactical fashion does not make it a sniper rifle.

Now on the other hand, a rifle can be deemed precise based on someone's relative association with precision. Calling a rifle a precision rifle is actually more of a blanket term than calling it a sniper rifle. One term carries actual measurable standards. The other is based solely on someone's perspective.

I would call a rifle that can achieve 1.5 MOA a fairly precise rifle. It's not a sniper rifle, but precise nonetheless. Your standard M16 battle rifle is a 3-4 minute weapon. Not precise and not designed to be.
