Default SR22 or S&W M&P22 or Ruger Mk something??

Found out my Buckmark doesn't like hollow points but works great with 40gr solids. I'd like to buy a pistol that is reliable with hollowpoints.
So I'm looking for recommendations for a 22lr semiauto pistol that isn't finnicky about what kind of ammo is used in it.

S&W 22A-1. I have used at least 10 different brands of ammo thru mine, solids and hollow points and never a hiccup with any of it. Comes with two mags and as a bonus its pretty darn accurate. Easy to field strip and clean. Comes with a lifetime warranty. I have the 7" barrel and the balance is somewhat forward, the 5.5" is probably better for balance but less accurate.

Default S&W 22a

Just got back from the range after getting my used 22A out of jail. Had half a brick of golden bullets. FTF, FTC, FTE. I hope the guy just left it dirty. 25% left on the floor.

Be interesting to see what happens after you give it a good cleaning as is seems your experience is the opposite of IZZYS. I'd be put out also if a pistol I just got functioned like that.

Thanks guys for the input!

Can't speak from experience for most of those handguns but my SR22 eats everything I feed it. It may not be a match gun, but it's definitely fun and well sized for my small hands. A good buy for 325.00 OTD on my end.

have you considered the GSG 1911-22/Sig Sauer 19211-22? It is a fun gun at a very reasonable price. The size makes it really stable in the hands. I have shot Winchester Golden's and M-22's, Federal Bulk, and Remington Thunderbolts through mine, I also have the Sr22. No problems whatsoever.

Thought about the GSG but saw some reviews somewhere a few months back about issues with the slide (cracks???) and the warrenty service. I've held the SR22 and thought it felt good, haven't had my hands on a S&W M&P 22 yet OR a Ruger in years. going to Cabela's Monday so maybe I can do some window shopping after all the Calif travelers have gone home from their weekend in Reno and buying up the ammo.

I love my Ruger MK III 22/45, one of my best purchase last year. Eats all sorts of bulk ammo for lunch, accurate as heck. The only hollow points I've ran through her was CCI Stinger 22LR and mostly federal Bulk. I havn't had the chance to try anything else because Brass is the New Gold at the moment.

It's tough to find one that will feed everything.

All of my .22 pistols like the 325 round automatch bulk packs in the beige box. They all struggle with the Winchester 555 round value packs.

I have an SR22. Fun little guns. After about 750 rounds it developed some slide wear that I did not like. Need to send it back to Ruger, just haven't gotten around to it.

Also have a P22 but never put enough rounds through it to determine good or bad.

I have a 22/45 Mkii that I just bought. I haven't fired it yet, but some seem to struggle at the steel challenge matches I go to.

Lastly, M&P22. This is the gun I shoot most right now. It has about 2000 rounds through it with no issues. I use it as a steel challenge gun and really enjoy it. It would be my choice if I only could have one.

Have no idea if any of them will have issues with hollowpoints. I guess my point is to pick your gun and then find an ammo it likes.

Ditto...hate golden bullets. 22A eats all others. My ammo of choice for plinking is CCI blazer. Now if I could just find some

What scope is that on your 22/45???

I just recently picked up a MP 22LR. Overall experience, it's a great 22lr pistol.

My MP22 chews up the Winchester 555 rounds and had no failure of any kind.

Ruger 22/45 MKIII eats almost everything (rem GB kinda eiffy). Pain to reassemble sometimes though....

I think the Ruger 22/45 or MK III are the best guns but disassembly and reassembly will drive you nuts. I had the SR-22 for a short while and it was a good gun. A bit small but 100% reliable also easy to take a part to clean.

Ditto on the Ruger MkIII. Will eat everything and don't worry about the "disassembly". if you're not changing any internal parts there should be no reason to completely disassemble it. Buy one, shoot it, and enjoy it!

I really like the look of the Standard models' tapered barrels, but aside from that, any significant difference between the MkIII and the 22/45s? Or is it just the different ergonomics they have, with the 22/45s trying to emulate the feel of the 1911?

I have a ruger sr22. Fun little gun that's cheap to shoot. No complaints with it. Only thing I notice is it does get dirty after 100 rds but still performs great. Out of 400 rds it's had 1 ftf and 2 ftl.

I like the natural "Luger" point of the MKIII also.

Default Ruger MK III Target

My Ruger MK III Target is the best .22LR semi pistol. It eats all and any ammo without issues. And regarding the supposedly difficult task of cleaning it, not the case. And she does not need a cleaning often at all.

Brick after brick of ammo and super satisfied.

Ruger MK III all the way!

Curve ball here: Phoenix Arms HP22A.

Cheap, shoots everything. It won't last your kids lifetime, but for $150 or so what the heck, I'm really good with it.

Those darn golden golden bullets stink, I'll never buy them again. The 10/22 didn't like them either. I use the bulk federal or blazer, or whatever else I got cheap

I shot an M&P 22 and man it was great! If the size works for you, I think it'd be tough to find something better.

I'll get a Ruger SR22 before all is said and done I reckon. I just don't have much use for full size guns in my dainty, feminine hands

M&P22 then Ruger, IMO. Both are great and usually eat anything.

M&P 22 gets my vote. They only come with one mag though, which sucks.

M&P for me. Mines has over 5000 rounds through with minimal problems. Works with a lot of different brands of 22 as well.

Default M&P .22lr all the way!

I have no FTF or FTE in over 500 rounds of all kinds of ammo! Great gun! It has good accuracy as well!I say M&P all the way!

I would take the SR22p over the M&P22 any day. The SR22p is the right size for a 22 pistol. The M&P is oversized and frankly feels like a big empty piece of plastic. I did not care for it at all.

Both the M&P 22 and the Ruger SR22 are good guns that are not picky about ammo. I own them both and they are fun to shoot. If you like small, buy the Ruger. If you like a larger, full-size gun go for the M&P. You can't go wrong with either one!

I have three MKIII's, they all work well with cheap ..22 bulk ammo. My 10/22 does the same. In fact, none of my .22's have issues shooting bulk ammo and all I do is run a bore snake through them once and a great while..

I think most owners are very happy with the MK handgun (once you take the time to learn the break down)

No idea if it is THE BEST but mine is flawless and makes me think I'm a great shooter it's so accurate. They are built to last, that’s for sure. It only gets better. I doubt you can shoot it out if you stick to the proper ammo.

I'm sure I've shot other brands but that is what I can think of off hand. The thing I like best about the gun is it funtions, feels, and looks just like a full size M&P (9mm, .40 cal., .45 cal. ect...) It's a great gun to cross train with cheaply and reliably.

The M&P is also easy to break down and clean unlike the Ruger...

My M&P below....... You may now drool

Is that a real supressor? Very nice
