Searching the first page of the rimfire forum may help.

IN my opinion, Cabela's brand is a good quality at a good price under $100.

I put a Barska 6.5-20x Varmint scope on my bench 10/22 and it is great. You barely need a spotting scope with that much magnification and the scope was only 50 bucks on Sportsmansguide.com.

You can spend a lot of money to put the Hubble JR. on your 10/22, but if it doesn't shoot to the same place all you will get is a really great view of a group.

Check the rimfirecentral.com folks for bench-rest recommendations and then put some glass on a good rifle.

FWIW a nice Savage 93 will let you shoot the staples out of your friends targets. Just blame the wind.

i use a Simmons 3-9x32 AO scope on mine. love it. decent glass and $60. I bought some burris zee rings instead of using the cheapo rings this thing comes with. still use the standard/stock scope rail from ruger
