Not running 4x4,s in n idaho are 2500 and up. I got a running 4x4 for 1500. Will use it for plowing and hauling firewood.
The only electronics i see are some type of pickup inside the d cap. Is that hei? Its an 82 f250 .75 ton. What other parts do i need to keep as spares for an emp? Last edited by uparmor; 06-18-2017 at 6:38 PM.. |

Just make a giant tin foil hat for the truck and that should protect it.

No, HEI is GM. Ford used ignition modules requiring replacement early and often.
If you want EMP-proof, put in a points distibutor, use shielded plug wires, and keep spare points, condensers, and a coil or 2. Last edited by God Bless America; 06-19-2017 at 8:43 AM.. |

In that year ford used a Dura Spark system. A dist with a hall effect pickup, a conventional coil and the ign box that is inside a 6 inch square aluminum box that is pretty much waterproof.
If a emp has enough power to fry that you are dead anyways. |

From experience, when those Dura Spark ignition boxes die, they do so with little or no warning. They will leave you stranded.
It would be a good idea to always carry a spare, EMP or no EMP.

At the bottom of the Dura spark box there will be a colored plug where the wires run into it. Make sure you tell the parts guy the correct color. |

What chance do our cars have if a HARDENED MIL SHIP FAILS? The true story----> TOWED BACK TO PORT!!!!! (According to this report, in April, 2014, the USS Donald Cook, while performing a mission in the Black Sea, substantially violated Federation “territorial integrity” causing President Putin to authorize an “electronic warfare defense” attack against it that was so devastating this top-line warship was left adrift—and once towed back to its Romanian port, its American sailors were so demoralized 27 of them filed immediate letters of resignation from the US Navy. ) One year later, in May 2015, this report continues, and again in the Black Sea, the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ross (DDG-71) substantially violated Federation “territorial integrity” causing President Putin, once again, to authorize an “electronic warfare defense” attack against it, but when confronted with the fate that befell the USS Donald Cook the year prior it retreated—causing one Russian top-level Naval Officer to state: “It seems that the Americans did not forget the April 2014 incident when one Su-24 actually shut down all equipment on the new USS Donald Cook American destroyer with anti-missile system elements.” In March 2015 too, this report notes, Federation submarine naval forces attacked with their “advanced” electronic weapons the American aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) causing it to flee to the coast of Britain where it remained for weeks to the amazement of the public until it was repaired and able to get under sail again—and as we had told about in our report titled Terrified US Aircraft Carrier Flees From Russian Subs To UK Safety. adrift ![]() On 10 April 2014, the USS Donald Cook entered the waters of the Black Sea and on 12 April a Russian Su-24 tactical bomber flew over the vessel triggering an incident that, according to several media reports, completely demoralized its crew, so much so that the Pentagon issued a protest [1]. The USS Donald Cook (DDG-75) is a 4th generation guided missile destroyer whose key weapons are Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, and capable of carrying nuclear explosives. This ship carries 56 Tomahawk missiles in standard mode, and 96 missiles in attack mode. The US destroyer is equipped with the most recent Aegis Combat System. It is an integrated naval weapons systems which can link together the missile defense systems of all vessels embedded within the same network, so as to ensure the detection, tracking and destruction of hundreds of targets at the same time. In addition, the USS Donald Cook is equipped with 4 large radars, whose power is comparable to that of several stations. For protection, it carries more than fifty anti-aircraft missiles of various types. Meanwhile, the Russian Su-24 that buzzed the USS Donald Cook carried neither bombs nor missiles but only a basket mounted under the fuselage, which, according to the Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta [2], contained a Russian electronic warfare device called Khibiny. As the Russian jet approached the US vessel, the electronic device disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the US destroyer. In other words, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked up - or about to be - with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most modern ships was shut down, as turning off the TV set with the remote control. The Russian Su-24 then simulated a missile attack against the USS Donald Cook, which was left literally deaf and blind. As if carrying out a training exercise, the Russian aircraft - unarmed - repeated the same maneuver 12 times before flying away. After that, the 4th generation destroyer immediately set sail towards a port in Romania. Since that incident, which the Atlanticist media have carefully covered up despite the widespread reactions sparked among defense industry experts, no US ship has ever approached Russian territorial waters again. According to some specialized media, 27 sailors from the USS Donald Cook requested to be relieved from active service. Vladimir Balybine - director of the research center on electronic warfare and the evaluation of so-called "visibility reduction" techniques attached to the Russian Air Force Academy - made the following comment: "The more a radio-electronic system is complex, the easier it is to disable it through the use of electronic warfare." And how many EMP events have you seen? Same as me, none?
![]() OP, spare modules will get fried too unless protected. Are you looking for an 82 F250, or an EMP-resistant truck? EMP-resistant requires points, or maybe a shielded magneto. Forget electronics if you are really concerned about EMP. Or forget about EMP if you want that truck and its electronic ignition. ETA: or not. Hmmmmmm. https://www.google.com/amp/jalopnik....dnt-bother/amp Last edited by God Bless America; 06-19-2017 at 6:16 PM.. |
