Just bought 2 from Atlantic a few minutes ago. Shame. This makes all Russian stuff super premium now. Atalantic had nothing in stock other than wood 47 sporters and the 7.62x54 sniper I wanted for years is also gone. Had to settle for a 308 version.
Last connection to Russian AK probably for a long time. Ironic its under Trumps admin, hes so bogged down in Russian hysteria I guess they couldnt do anything.

I have a PSL in 54r and that one was another regret I did not buy more for $550 when they were around. Why did I wait so long for the 23" sniper? So many opportunities......

Bummer...I have AK receivers on layway so I can't afford it. I'd only get the 7.62x39 personally because I couldn't afford to stock up on 308 at this point.
Just goes to show you how it's important to grab this stuff while you can. |

Trump has no role, but the expectation was his admin was going to not pursue more Russian sanctions or perhaps even roll some back. Wishful thinking with Dems foaming at the mouth to justify this crazy Russia Putin hysteria.

Is the NRA OK with the new prohibition? Like no one fought against banning milsurp 5.45x39, as long as nobody touches 5.56x45?
or... Could The Swamp have drained Trump?

He is ultimately responsible and in control, he would direct the Dept of Treasury to do anything he wanted.

Who cares? I've never spend one nickle in support of the commies. Yeah I understand AKs are popular but I'm just too American to shoot 7.62x39. I did buy some 7x57 brass from a former SSR though.

Following article by CIA's Phil Giraldi (who was Ron Paul's foreign policy advisor during his 2008 presidential run) mentions the sanctions as well:

Trump is not thinking about or aware of the effect sanctions have on gun sales. It's too myopic to look at this as some kind of anti-2A deal. These sanctions are incredibly widespread and this is just one tiny part of it.
Geopolitics right now is being governed by the anti-Russian hysteria and it needs to pass before anything can make a difference. Trump has done some small things so far that are pro-2A so we need to give the admin time and the benefit of the doubt.

It's a shame because the Kalashnikov (Saiga) and Molot (Vepr) rifles were perhaps the finest AK variant rifles accessible to American buyers. I purchased one of the last Saiga rifles Turner's had in its inventory right after the first Russian import ban for approximately $540. I then purchased a Vepr in 7.62x54r last year from Atlantic Firearms for $799. Both have been exceptional rifles, especially for the price point I purchased them at. To me, the Vepr in 7.62x54r was a cheaper alternative and provided similar capability (except mag availability) as the Springfield Armory M1A. It's unfortunate that these rifles are no longer available to American buyers in a brand new configuration.
