More importantly, are we talking about mods to the stock or rifle (or both)?

I'm working on a stock adapter, a very small amount of cutting the rear stock mount is required. Stay tuned..

I used V8MERC's barrel threading tools, he rents them out. Yep! Thanks brother! It helped tremendously. |

Is it just mocked up on the gun at the moment or is it actually mounted on there ready to go shown in the picture?
Instead of cutting the stock tap could you inlet the stock a little on top? Or just set the stock back another 3/8 or so? |

Above pictures were a mockup, I had to fill the void in the adapter with epoxy to create something to drill/tap into. You could inlet the stock a bit on top, but it won't be pretty, given how the stock is put together. Can't set the stock back since the distance from the grip to the trigger would be too long.

He's using a Mossberg 500 stock, so presumably the adapter would be compatible with other Mossberg 500 stocks.
The big difference between Mossberg 500 and Remington 870 stocks is with the Mossberg the trigger is about an inch from the rear of the receiver, while with the Remington (and almost all other shotguns) it's right at the rear of the receiver. For a Saiga stock, I would have started with the Remington stock, but OP seems to know what he is doing.

Project is at the house right now, I'm drawing it up to be produced. The rear end pretty much looks like a 590 adapter. |

That's the opposite of what I would have expected, but as I said, you seem to know what you're doing.

THIS is awesome! I've thought of the getting the Saiga and doing something similar, but wasn't sure about using AK mags in it, since I couldn't find a definitive answer about putting in the bullet guide and mag-well modifications to accept them and keeping it unconverted. Or are you still using Saiga magazines?
Can't wait to see the progress on this. Last edited by noway; 04-16-2016 at 11:14 PM.. Reason: clarification |

This looks really cool and much better looking than the stock Saiga!
What's the thing under the mag well?

Any updates?
Also...OP, it looks like you have a Tromix bolt handle on there. How did you get it to seat completely since the Siaga charging handle seems to be a bit thicker? Did you grind to fit, whack it with a hammer...am I at strike 2 since the Tromix seems not to seat all the way (and stick out too much)?
