If your like me and have several lanterns, camp stoves etc that run on the 1lb'ers, getting the adapter to refill them from your large tanks is a must. Very easy and VERY cheap.

I have 4 or 5 of the 20lb tanks that have accumulated over the years. I need to top them all off..plus about 10 of the 1 lb coleman style. And I bought a couple of those stoves that use the small cans and cook for about 75 mins per can. I bought two cases of the cans (48)

I have had people check the date before they would refill them. AFAIK propane stores indefinitely.

I think I have six of he 5 gallon/20 pounders that I rotate through, trying to keep as many full as possible.
I need to figure out storage for this many though. I've read it's not a good idea to keep them in the garage, my house actually sits on top of my garage, so blowing up the garage would be extra bad. Given that I am known to run power tools and weld I also don't feel real comfortable keeping tanks in there. Guess I'll need to add some sort of small shed out back to my "to-do" list for the new place.

As long as they are stored safely - propane tanks are used every day by apartment dwellers for grills, car fuel, etc
