The entire point of the shoot has always been to bring ammo for yourself and others, and pass and share guns: have a good time! If you feel so inclined, then bring some ammo to shoot in others guns.
But even if you don't, we're all just playing musical ammo
I only shoot a mag or two through each of my pistols, but I always leave with a few boxes gone; that's the way it should be

I get what your saying but if paul is willing to be nice enough to bring a firearm at my request I think the least I can do is bring some ammo for it. Last time I not only let others shoot my guns but shot others guns when I had no ammo for them. But if you ask me to bring something for you to try I think you could buy a box or two.

I'm not trying to start a argument with you surplus, I just was raised to return borrowed things in as good if not better condition as when it was borrowed. When someone does something nice for you return the favor. No one likes feeling like they have been used or taken advantage of.

I know that others asked to be able to shoot a certain gun but also expected the ammo to be available for them. I didn't want paul to feel this way although he most likely would let me shoot his gun with his ammo and never ask for anything in return. This is not how I was raised or how I want to be.

I like this forum so now that you know the mods so well please don't get me banned. JK. I will even let you try my guns again as long as I am not banned

Nah you won't be banned I see what you're saying, that's what I thought you meant in the first place but I wanted to just make sure that's what you meant (and so other people reading this understand it too).
I've had people not want to use the ammo I bring even though it's factory ammo that's another reason I brought it up.

There are a couple ranges, San Joaquin Rifle and Pistol Range in Linden, and Sac Valley Shooting Center in Ione, but they're not really what we want for the C&R shoot/swap meet/bull session/BBQ. The range in Linden is decent, and SVSC is the best range that I've ever been to, but the Oroville range sounds perfect for this. I will be driving up from Galt, it takes me about 1:45 to get to my folks place up above Oroville, you should be able to get to Oroville in 2:15 or so from Stockton.

Dude, I come from Monterey and I dont even have my own car.
I'll have a case of 7.62x54r and 5.45x39.
Also some 5.56, 7.62x51, .45ACP, and probably some others. Oh, some 12g.
Hey meaty-btz(or anyone), do you have an extra 10 round magazine for a 74? Mine came with 30 round rebuild kits, I dont have any blocks either, and I'd like to be able to take my new rifle out legally.
Wanna sell me one if you got it?

Speaking of ammo...let me show you what Dutch3 did.

Glue gun with no powder. He can do anything with that reloading machine. Oh, hard to get primers and powder.

Understandably not real accurate, probably don't groove in the barrel.
I was wondering if one of you fine gentlemen would stand out in the shooting area and let me snap you in the butt, let us know if it hurts. Any takers?

My Dad has been making these hot glue slugs for his 357 for some time now. Primer only no powder and they do really pack a pretty good punch. If you can stack up cardboard boxes you can recover some of them. They are still perfect after being shot and can be reused! I would not want to get hit with one inside of 20 yards. It would hurt like hell. I will see if I can run some over the Chrony and get some numbers so we can tally up the foot pounds of energy. It will be interesting. He has them for new shooters to try if they are to scared for anything else. They pretty much get the noise and that is it. They are pretty accurate from what we have shot so far at 21ft out. Can keep them on an 8.5X11 target no problem.

Ouch. That's not what they are intended for.

Good for practice on the homestead or eliminating small vermin.

My co-worker's mom likes them, they make her .38 sound like a cap gun with zero recoil. She shoots them in her garage, into a cardboard box stuffed with towels so she can recover the bullets and reuse them.

What would happen with a full load of powder? If the glue stands firm after firing, might be good to go.

I think with powder they would melt on the back side and coat the barrel. Just to much heat.

Yeah, would probably need a gas check at least. Being so light, they would probably spin apart with a powder load anyway.

I have heard of people shooting them with very light powder loads, though.

You might get away with 2 grains of Bullseye and a gas check but after all that just load up some cast bullets and get the job done!

Not the most accurate but works.
I'll see if I have time to do a few tomorrow, if I can find some 22 cal. pellets, I know I have some .177 but that won't work.

I see...a .22 lead pellet.

For some reason, I was thinking along the lines of a load of "snakeshot" pellets.

Paulie, meaty, Lone_G(I assume you have a rifle, not just magazines), and myself, we should all bring our 74s and have a commie party. That'd be a blast, for sure. Go irons against some AR15s, maybe.
A commie shoot sounds good. We are at a disadvantage though.. our irons suck. Commie barrels do shoot better. I also have a problem with my scope mount... doh.. fixable I think. Somehow I opened a 1.5mm gap by bending the receiver during assembly or something. It's just one spot like I grabbed it too hard. Anyways I think I can get it back square as it is off by 3' at 100 yards right now.

Irons are dead on. PS Commie barrels do shoot better. 50 yards with irons, all I could see was a small black round thing about the size of my front post. First two were right, I adjusted the sight and the rest were fairly fast. Got a lucky flier bulls but the rest grouped nicely. Good barrel is good. You'd probably get the same out of a hammer forged american barrel if you can find one. The idea is heavier barrel makes a difference.

Commie shoot you say? My PSL is commie, and I can actually see the target with it.
I had some of those Speer .38 plastic indoor bullets that fired with a primer, and very lethal on the mocking birds in my fruit trees, but the possum wasn't getting the hint.
So I figured a magnum primer and a couple of grains of black powder would step up the persuasion. I also figured that 6 layers of packing cardboard should be a sufficient enough backstop and penetration test out in the garage.
I figured wrong.
Went through all the cardboard, and through the plywood garage door, and lodged in the grill of my pickup!
BTW...worked great on the possum.

lol, nice work with the truck.
I am sure someone has an american counterpart to the PSL, or equivalent. Can I try a few rounds(mags?) on that, btw? I have a bunch of 7.62x54r. That is what it shoots, correct?

This sounds like a lot of fun.

Yeah, I'll sell it to you, I think I paid around $20 for it, you can have it for that. I wasn't planning on bringing the 74, but I might. All I have is the corrosive commie ammo, and I'm probably not going to feel like cleaning I right after. I'm for sure bringing the Garand, and the 10/22 for my son to shoot. I might bring some other stuff too, haven't decided yet.

surplus-addict, are you paying attention here?
You can only shoot light ball in it Travis, even though I have a recoil buffer in it, the heavy ball really pounds it. I have plenty of light ball if you don't.
Between me, Paulie, w55, and Justin, we could have four SVT-40's for a commie gun shoot too!

But I'm pooooooor and have very little ammo I can trade a bunch of vegetables from the garden for some ammo though, anybody want zucchini's?
(No, serious: if anybody wants zucchini's, just ask and I will bring you some, our garden is waaaaaay over producing).

Trust me, if I had 54r I'd bring it, but I sold my last bit to Alex.

I have no idea what my ammo is, besides corrosive surplus. I will try and figure it out.
Trading vegetables for ammo, lol. That is pretty cool. Damn funny I thought, at 6AM.

We need to put those veggies to good use as targets. If glue rounds work what about a carrot bullet? or corn filled 12 ga. Maybe green peace will like us better. cal guns seeds land while enjoying their sport ensuring veggies for the next generation.

That is funny, although we should all hope it never really comes to that.

carrots just springing up into the wastes of Afghanistan, right out of their chest cavity.

Honestly, if someone had a lot of veggies, and I had a lot of ammo, I would trade for some. Although, I think I see a problem with food as currency.

This is me when I got out of Lompoc Men's Colony. Yea, lots of time to lift weights, take long showers, write appeals. Not too bad.
