Haha. It's all good. The match did originally start out as a 5th Saturday one but because some people wanted to also shoot the Pala match, we moved it to the 5th Sunday (plus it gives us an extra day for setup).

I believe USPSA Running Gun @ Raahauge's is held every Saturday unless otherwise noted on the website! (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

To the moderator of the forum... make this a sticky thread! And take down the older ones that are no longer useful like the Manteca general schedule and the target pits.

It has always been every Saturday with the exception of three weekends:

The big cowboy match at the end of May and middle of October, and the Sports Fair at the beginning of June.

Also the Phantom Strike Rifle match is every 3rd Sunday.

The website will announce any upcoming changes

I am apart of the Imperial Valley rifle and pistol association which is a gun club with our own range this is the web site http://ivrpa.net/ (if reading as this post was written the website is currently down for maintenance) but we hold action pistol matches, high power rifle across the course matches SASS, and a few others i know that a lot of people do not know about this range and from being in the imperial valley and shoot at this range every weekend i know it is a widely underutilized range with capabilities of being a great attribute to southern CA mainly because we do have a 1000 yard range but we are here and we do hold monthly matches they are all posted on the web site and would love to see some more people down here and we are mainly shut down for the summer months because of the heat but the rest of the year we are gtg.

Defensive Pistol - This one is primarily for relatively new shooters. 95% of the people at this one will be BSIS security guards doing their shooting qualifications. Once the quals/requals are done there is usually some type of man-v-man competition (double elimination) If there is a disparity of capability, experienced shooters are usually handicapped in some way (induced malfunction, forced reload, weak hand, etc) when paired with less experienced shooters.

Practical Pistol - 2nd Saturday
Usually some form of IPSC style stage or stages.

Tactical Rifle - 4th Saturday
Usually some form of a '2-gun' stage using rifle and pistol. Sometimes run for time, sometimes as a double ellim man v man

Urban Tactical - 2nd Sunday
Usually an urban combat scenario of the 'save the one you love' variety. The typical format will be for everyone to run the stage once for the learning experience, then run it a second time while timed. It then usually evolves to a shotgun/pistol run under the same format.

Thumbs up For the very disciplined and serious precision marksmen......

Interesting how none of you mentioned BIANCHI CUP (AKA NRA-Styled ACTION PISTOL) matches being held at Prado on 1st and 2nd Sundays, right next door to IDPA matches being held there.

The match starts at 8:30AM and end before lunch hour.

All are welcomed to try practice on 1st Sundays. They will have 8" steel plate racks put up and moving target range is always ready to go.

The full match is on 2nd Sundays and will have all 4 Bianchi Stages: Barricades, Plates, Practical, and the DREADED Mover

For the serious IDPA and IPSC'ers having trouble placing accurate shots consistently beyond 15 yards, this is the match to shoot to work on your fundamentals. Are you game enough ?

Interested individual please ask Prado pistol range front desk for Dale LaMont's contact info.... He also holds an informal bullseye practice match on 3rd Sundays that casually begins @ 9AM ...

And *drum roll please*.... for those ISSF shooters from out of town (or even from another country) who can't seem to find any Olympic style matches in SoCal, or for those hard-core Bianchi Shooters already approaching perfect scores but can't seem to get over "the hump" to beat Doug Koenig, there's an Old timer's NRA bullseye match on 1st Saturdays at Angeles Range in Tujunga off the 210.

Match starts at 8:30AM prompt, but please show up by 8 to get your gears and targets set up.

It's an outdoor match so they will shoot 50 yards slow fire then 25 yards sustained fire.

Be prepared to shoot with one hand only, standing on your hind legs!

I believe they allow first timers with no bullseye experience to shoot under probationary rules with 2 hands. Standing on hind legs still apply

Please bring a .22 and any centerfire handgun, and a wee bit more than 100 rounds each for 200 + rounds total.

Optics are allowed, but not required. The all time highest score ever fired was with iron sights back in 1970's.

Please study bullseye rules and courses of fire before attending the match.

Ususally ends by 3pm. There will be 10-20 min. lunch break in between so do bring food and drinks.

Please shoot George Kevan an email for more info.

labullseye@yahoo.com

-Bill

I have some new matches to add to the calendar.

Deadwood Boys now hosts a sanctioned USPSA pistol match on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Deadwood Boys also hosts the Taran Tactical Innovations Rifle Series on the 2nd Sunday of every month.

Interested in diving into IDPA/USPSA/Action, but I recently moved to Covina, and probably can shoot once a month or so (twice if I'm lucky) due to busy schedule.

Do you guys have any suggestions for places/matches near me? I've been to Prado before but didn't really know they held matches; 30 mins+ away. Next closest is maybe Burro Canyon in Azusa, but again, unfamiliar with matches/options near me.

I would love shooting the action steel in Piru, as I've been aware of it for years, but it's just too far for me especially now that I moved.

Thanks in advance!

I'm guessing that the West End Gun Club and SWPL at Gopher Flats matches are closest to you.

The California Tactical Academy hosts sanctioned level I Steel Challenge matches on the second Saturday of every month, on the old Mike Dalton range in Piru.

I beg to differ. The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!
