I think it should've been Latino/Hispanics not just Mexicans . I'm not Mexican but since everyone else considers me one I'll chime in! I own a Springfield XD and just started on my AR15 build.

Why Latino politicians so against firearms in Kalifornia? The same can also be said for Asians.

BTW I am Chinese. My theory on the Asians politicians is that most of them are Taiwanese (Monterey Park area) who immigrated to the US to avoid military service in the Republic of a China.

I'm half-beaner and half-gringo. I just insulted two ethnicities! But it's tawoo.

I'm good friends with a Mexican American guy, he and his father are both gun enthusiasts. He's one of my usual range partners. He's actually a pretty conservative person.

I've been known to pack some tamales on range trips around Christmas time.

But I've also been called a heathen for putting beans in my chili.

It's all good as long as the ammo can's full and the mags are packed.

Damn right! You ARE an American. Once you've got that going for you, the whole ethnicity thing is irrelevant, as far as I'm concerned.

Pride In heritage is strong with Mexicans, my wife is Itallian and shares the same national pride for her heritage. Saying that you no longer give any credence to your heritage is just silly.

Actually, I don't think it is.

When I make chile verde or chile colorado I never use beans. I'm pretty sure that "caucasionized" chili is most commonly recognized as having beans in it.

You're throwing me for a loop here. I don't think I've ever had Chile Verde or Colorado with beans in it. I was strictly talking about chili as in the hormel/chili dog chili. I never considered then the same, but thinking about it now I suppose they are both stew type dishes.

But back on topic: I don't consider myself Mexican, nor do my parents. We have no Mexican pride. Come to think of it, my grandparents didn't either. They learned English and came here legally. Never once saw them display a Mexican flag. All my aunts and uncles knew Spanish but they were forbidden from speaking it in the house once they went to school.

Grandparents on my dad's side were in Texas, so they had already been here longer I think. While also speaking Spanish, they too were fluent English speakers with no 'Mexican' pride. Must have been a different era.
