Default Easiest to see 1911 optic?

Hey guys. My dad has some eye issues and basically has a blind spot in the middle of his aiming eye. Breaks my heart when we shoot because he is a retired police officer and Navy Master at Arms chief and he can't hit **** anymore because he can really only point the muzzle.

That being said, I am going to setup one of his 1911s on a red dot. Looking for the easiest to see for around $200 or less. Would prefer a reticle with more than just a dot, but if that is out of the price range, then probably a red dot at least 5 moa.

I have no experience with these, so hoping you all can help!

Thanks

If you get a Trijicon RM06 and set the brightness level very high, the dot blooms to about 5 MOA. It's very easy to see even in broad daylight.

A cheaper alternative would be the Burris Fastfire but I don't think the cheaper optics will stand up against a handgun's recoil if mounted directly on the slide.

Something like this can be added to the 1911 to reduce wear and tear on the optic.

Have your dad look through these red dot sights. Because of my astigmatism, the red dot looks more like an inside down lighting bolt.

They aren't that bad if you get it for $349 and then somehow take 30% to 40% off of that. Ends up $244 or less... that's a lot of patience and waiting though. You have to get giftcards and wait for rebate like Active Junky... and wait for a 10% off day for Cabela's Club if you want the lowest price.

20% off gift cards+10% Active Junky+10% off free shipping day code...

Unfortunately you have to factor tax in there now though.

As far as FF3's... I've had them on 10mm slide, 9mm slide, semi-auto 12 gauge, 9mm blowback, etc... none broke except me breaking one shattering a projector lense with a wrench. Burris just replaces it pretty quick no questions forever warranty.

Hey guys, I think I am going to go with the Burris FF3. They have a promo right now with the AR optic which is always nice to have. Now I just need to get the mount, they all seem to have mixed reviews.

I might try a Vortex Venom 3 moa for $229.99 before all the discounts. Looks like I can score one for $40 out of pocket with rewards and my pre-paid visa from the TC Compass rebate.

Does he have a blind spot in his non-dominant eye? Close the dominant eye and shoot with the other.

this, He can also train his eyes and allow the weak eye to either consciously, or unconsciously become the dominant eye.

Frankly this is the essence of the Bindon Aiming Concept.

I bought this Burris one from Amazon: http://amzn.to/2FcIAN7 and it has done wonders for me, I'm in a similar situation with my eyes and it really helped!
