Default New to me "VZ 24"..

Something just is odd about this one. Looks like Bubba got to it before me. So many weird stamps, and this front sight hood riveted on. Stock isn't even right! Someone stamped 7.62 All over it. May have to rebarrell back to 8mm.

For the record, I know it's an Israeli one. Beautiful piece. Was a gift from a friend.

I want your friend. The last gift a friend gave me was his dad's Carcano M91/38. It cost me $200 to unbubba it.

Yes, I was going to say it looks like an Isreali one. They Re-barreled Mausers and Browning M1919's in 7.62. It's been re-blued as well, the stock isn't original and the sight hood is definitely not original BRNO, but it could be what was used on the 7.62 barrels. Personally I'd keep it as a shooter since 7.62 is cheaper and easier to get than 8mm.

Or if you really want an 8MM PM me and I might consider a trade.

Definitely! I've got a bubba's Arisaka from a friend I'm keeping....

I couldn't tell from the pictures if you've got a straight or turned bolt, but maybe it's a VZ98k ?

That is an interesting Israeli M98. I don't believe i've seen an Israeli M98 with such small font "7.62" receiver markings. Based on the other markings, the riveted on front sight cover and it's finish it appears to be a legit Israeli M98.

All the Israeli's I've seen have a larger "7.62" markings as in the pic below...

Who was the importer? Based on it's condition I would bet it's a Armscorp import... If you can't find the import marks check under the top handguard. Armscorp marked their early rifles there.

Neat rifle.

Stunning specimen. Like SVT40 said, I haven't seen one with the small 7.62 marks. Thanks for sharing! I wish I had more friends like that.

Wow, never seen an Israeli like this. There was one that the collector had on his site for a while about 6 years ago, it was a k98, Russian capture, Israeli modified, with Iraqi stamps. It was listed for something like $380 and I kept trying to haggle and he wouldn't budge. I think it sold for $350. Man, I wish I would have just bought that thing. The stories.

An Israeli VZ with the lion is friggin super rad!

An Israeli K98 with the Czech Bohemian Eagle on the reciever has always been a Mauser that I've always wanted. Nice gun!

You are correct. Partial Armscorp stamp and then says Mod 98 CZ

Super nice Mauser in s desirable caliber, looks like a keeper? I've got a CZ in the original 8mm caliber if you want to trade, and I'll add some cash to the trade. I think you might have a rework from Brickle Trading in El Monte, many years ago they rebuild some rusty Mausers and put new 7.62 barrels on them and a nice Crest, I'm sure you can find more info on the web.

As posted by the OP. It's a Armscorp import. Just marked under the hand guard.

Briklee did do some Mauser rebuilds, most were "American Eagle" crested though.

This is definitely a Israeli Refurb done in Israel.

You can use a small punch to adjust the front sight blade from side to side. The front hole in the sight protector lines up with the front sight blade base.

The Israeli's had a special tool for this purpose. They are pretty rare though.
